Latacunga surprised me. It really did. I stay there a couple of days longer than I did most other average towns and found myself liking the vibe of this city. There weren't much to do here. Simply just relax. I met a middle aged Dutch man at the guesthouse I was staying at. We discussed politic and world economy. He gave me a book on my nations fail. I read it from cover to cover. I took the local bus for a day trip to Laguna Quilotoa. It was quite scenic. A crater that has become a lake over time. The Dutch guy and myself joined a group to see Vulcan Cotopaxi. Suzanne here... It was a long flight to Quito. Mainly because the cheapest flight involved flying right over Ecuador and all the way to Panama. Doubly annoying as we've wanted to go to Panama for ages, but there was no time to leave the airport. We did however get a glimpse of Panama City and the Panama Canal from the air. About 12 hours after setting off, we finally landed at 9pm. Usually we are really stubborn about getting the bus. But even we realised that was a bit daft landing in a brand new county, with a bit of a reputation, in the dark, after many hours of travelling. Our B&B offered to pick us up for $10. 22 jänner bis 28 jänner 2017 Ecuador Von Panama City ging es zurück nach Südamerika nach Ecuador. Quito ist eine große Schlauchförmige Stadt umgeben von Bergen. Am ersten Tag ging es gleich hoch hinaus. Mit der Gondel auf den "Hausberg" von Quito. Nach 15 min mit der Gondel waren wir auf 4100m. Wir gingen los in Richtung Berg doch schon nach ein paar Meter mussten wir vestellen das uns die Puste ausgeht. Leider schafften wir es nicht bis ganz rauf auf den Gipfel. Das letzte Stück hätten wir klettern müssen doch uns fehlte einfach die Kraft dazu. Wir waren doch nicht so gut aklimatisiert wie wir dachten. Møjn! Et par hektiske dage i Banos lakker mod enden. Det har været nogle helt vilde dage med fuld drøn på oplevelser og adrenalin. Banos er en by i de østlige Andesbjerge, og grænser op til skov og junglen, vi er kommet lidt ned højdemæssigt men er dog stadig 1800 m.o.h. Banos er kort fortalt én stor legeplads for alskens aktiviter hvor man kan få pulsen op og nyde den flotte natur. Byen ligger i en bjegdal med vulkanen Turunguaruah på den ene side. Lige ved byen passerer en flod som er udgangspunkt for alskens sjov og spas og flot natur, første dag lejede vi mountainbikes og kørte i bjergene langs floden, langs floden er der så forskellige ting man kan prøve, bla. ziplines (eller "canopy" som de kalder det her). Sorry for the quietness but it has been a busy week so far. I first spent just a day in Banos which is a very touristic town full of tour agencies for extreme sports such as bungee jumping, rafting, canyoning etc. I just did the swing at the end of the world which is a long swing at the edge of the top of a mountain so it gives a beautiful view! Then I went to hike the Quilotoa loop, was the best part of the trip so far. Left my bag in Latacunga and took the bus to Isin Livi, a tiny village with the best hostal ever!
