So when I said in my last entry that there would be photos coming...I lied. They aren´t coming...ever. I encountered my first and hopefully only piece of bad luck 2 days ago. I was at Tayrona National Park, and decided to go for a walk on the beach. I found a big rock and sat down, and with my camera still being new, decided to play around with it and try to get to know it better. One misplaced finger lead to me accidently reformatting my memory card aka deleting all the pictures from the first 2 weeks of my trip. Even though I am not sure of what is ahead of me, I have a feeling that the pictures from the Salt Cathedral and the Ciudad Perdida trek are/were some of my favourite. Luckily, ... read more

Another update...we are in Taganga, which is about 5-10 minutes just outside of Santa Marta, which is on the northern coast. To recap the last week or so, in San Gil, we decided to just go white water rafting, and do the paragliding in Medellin. We did a full day of white water rafting and went through numerous class 5 rapids. Due to the water levels, we were told that the water was as severe as it could be for unproffessional people to travel on it. The whole day was a blast, and it was perfect weather for it the whole time. After San Gil, we went up north to Santa Marta, which is on waterfront. The city wasn´t too much to offer, but it is the base for the tourgroup which we needed in ... read more

I really had no idea that Colombia would be so beautiful, lively, cultured and modern at the same time. I had a vague idea about Bolivia even though it turned out to be so much more, but thinking back I don't remember seeing any images or descriptions of Columbia before coming here, I guess the world is just discovering it. I spent another few days in Taganga and another few nights in El Garage before deciding to go with Karen, Marlien, Bruno and Nelson (two locals) to a beach near the village of Palomino where Nelsons uncle ‘El Negro’ has a finca. Its quite isolated and has no electricity or water so I spent a day with Nelson and Bruno stocking up on supplies like candles and drinking water in Santa Marta before we headed off ... read more
