The 30+ degree weather is over, and I can now walk the streets without looking like I just took a shower. We arrived here in Medellin yesterday, and could instantly feel the difference in temperature, and it was more than a welcomed change. The city is different than any of the other places we have been so far. Bogota and Cartagena were cities with narrow streets and bustling traffic. Medellin is a long, stretched out city that is based in a valley, and walking around, the city has a laid back feel which I find odd for the western appearance [View Full Entry]

Some of the Buildings in the Old Town

So when I said in my last entry that there would be photos coming...I lied. They arenīt coming...ever. I encountered my first and hopefully only piece of bad luck 2 days ago. I was at Tayrona National Park, and decided to go for a walk on the beach. I found a big rock and sat down, and with my camera still being new, decided to play around with it and try to get to know it better. One misplaced finger lead to me accidently reformatting my memory card aka deleting all the pictures from the first 2 weeks of my [View Full Entry]

My very first picture taken (post deletion of all the previous ones)

Another update...we are in Taganga, which is about 5-10 minutes just outside of Santa Marta, which is on the northern coast. To recap the last week or so, in San Gil, we decided to just go white water rafting, and do the paragliding in Medellin. We did a full day of white water rafting and went through numerous class 5 rapids. Due to the water levels, we were told that the water was as severe as it could be for unproffessional people to travel on it. The whole day was a blast, and it was perfect weather for it the [View Full Entry]

The top of La Ciudad Perdida

Hello everyone, Today we just arrived in San Gil, which is about a 7 hour bus ride north of Bogota. I think the road was more twisty than any road I have been on in Vancouver. Tomorrow we are going to go white water rafting in the morning, and paragliding in the afternoon. Then we will be heading to the North Coast to spend time there. While in Bogota, we wandered around the city center the first day. The second day we went to a Salt Cathedral. It was a huge cathedral dug out of the side of a mountain, and [View Full Entry]

One branch of the Salt Cathedral

The Time Has Come The day has finally arrived and tomorrow I will be setting off to South America for my first real trip. The general route that is planned is to fly into Bogota, Colmbia. From there, travel will take us north to the coast to see the beaches, then back down the western side of Colombia until we reach Ecuador. Some time will be spent in Ecuador before travelling down the coastline of Peru until we reach Lima. After spending several days in Lima, our plane will be boarded and we will return home. When it is squished into [View Full Entry]
