Lindsay here. Keira and I are leaving today to go back to the US, and it's still weird for me to think that I am actually going back. It's kind of like the same feeling I had when before I came here, I can't believe that I will be back living in another country. I am leaving my home to go back home, it just sounds funny. But I am really excited to see everyone and just be there. I have had the most wonderful experiences here, and I'm really going to miss it. I already had to say goodbye to my Chilean mom and sister and they were just incredibly sweet, and I am/was so lucky to have them for my family while being here, they definatly made everything a lot easier and smoother. My ... read more

Well we're back in Chile. As you can see about 6 of our blog entries were lost by travelblog. We're really bummed about it because we like to go back and read through our travel journal. But that seems to be the theme of the trip, things getting lost/stolen or breaking/malfunctioning. With two more nights in South America we're reading to do all our last minute shopping and look forward to a fun last night on Monday. Lindsay is getting a little sad about leaving her Chilean family but looks forward to seeing her "old" family. Uruaguay is a very cold country in the winter but also extremely beatuiful. We stayed one night in Colonia del Sacramento, a small coastal town, and two nights in Montevideo. I was sick the last 2 nights in Buenos Aires ... read more

Hello All, Well I haven't written anything up here for a long time, so I think it's time. Where to begin where to begin? Life is crazy here, that's a good place to start. My classes started last week, and in my first 8 classes, the professor failed to show up! No warning, just no prof. This is kinda what life is like here. Things just either happen or don't happen but there's no time to think about it because as something is failing to happen, something else is beginning. What in the world does that mean? Good question. Maybe its just because I still really have no idea what's going on, but I feel like everything that happens here is a surprise! Ha, for example, after a particularly late Saturday night this weekend (not that ... read more

The first day in Chile I went on a wine tour at Veramonte and Casablanca Vineyards, both of which were amazing. All of the wine was very inexpensive and delicious, living up to their reputation. We had lunch at this tiny horse ranch where they served us pisco sours and a spectacular feast. That night we went to a salsa club with some Chilean students where I failed to learn how to dance, once again. I guess I’m stuck with the moves my dad taught me…it seems to be enough. The next day Seth woke me up very early to go on a Faculty Directed Practicum to meet the Chilean electro-acoustic computer music community (that’s right, they’re organized and have a special group that meets to compare songs). Seth and I split a sampler plate at ... read more

Welcome back to Chile, here goes round two. So I've given a slight introduction to the city of Valparaiso, I'd hardly say I did it any justice whatsoever, but I did just finish getting pictures uploaded to the blog so hopefully pictures will speak the rest of the words that I failed to say. And so now, with horses, we begin. Horses? Yeah. I've never claimed to be much of a rider. Last time I was on a horse it was in Lesotho and I'm pretty sure I thought I was going to die. Something about riding a horse for the first time while you're on the edge of a cliff in the mountains has that effect. Still, I was quite excited when I found out our first trip with my exchange group in Chile ... read more

Hello all. Today we're leaving Lindsay's host family house and heading out for our travels. It's been very lovely meeting Lindsay's Chilean Family. They are very nice. It was a little tight for the 2 of us staying in her room though. I'm so glad Lindsay got to stay in such an artistic town. Everything here is gorgeous. We went to an outdoor museum yesterday with her mom and sister. Just amazing! Makes me want to scrap and do some crafts. So we're off to Santiago. Being here has brought back so many fond memories of our European Adventure last summer. I love to travel with my sis! Adios! -Keira Lindsay here, well I'm about to leave my family that I have been living with for the past five months. I don't think it has hit ... read more

Well I must say that today has been the most tranquilo 4th of July that I have ever had. I walked around the city for a bit and then retreated back to my program's office to do some more research for my mine and my sister's trip. She is coming down in 9 days, I'm am SO excited to see her!! We are going to La Paz, Bolivia; Cusco and Lima, Peru, and Buenos Aires, Argentina. I am also thinking about going to Uraguay, it is pretty close to Buenos Aires. I can't wait to get going! But today I went to a local pub and watched Chile tie to Mexico in the Copa America. I don't know if they will continue in the cup seeing as Brazil won to Ecuador. And sadly the only fireworks ... read more
