Jau trečia diena kaip aš Cordoboj, bet miesto beveik nemačiau, kadangi visas dėmesys buvo skirtas Dakarui, taigi pagaliau išsiruošiau apžiūrėti miesto. Be to šianden dar reikia nusipirkti ir bilietą iki Santiago,o prieš tai dar ir išsikeisti pinigų, nes jei pirkčiau kortele, kaina būtų paskaičiuota oficialu kursu, o ne tuo kuris gatvėje. Man dar vakas Jose nurodė gatvę kur galiu rasti gatvinių keitėjų, tad piriausiai ten ir nuvažiuoju. Normalus keitimo kursas gatvėje 8,5 peso už 1 eurą, bet keitėjas pradeda derybas pasiūlydamas 7, čia matyt pradinė kaina žiopliams nes oficialus kursas 6,5. bet netruku susideru 8,5 tad viskas gerai. Pavaikštinėju po miestą, apžiūriu įdomiausiu objektus, senas bažnyčias, parkus. Bet man įdomiausias objektas miese pasirodo senovinis apžvalgos ratas, tokio dar nebuvau mates. Dar visai įdomus pasirodė viešas baseinas prie kurio įėjimo susėdę seselės tikrina ... read more

Man pasiūlo važiuoti iki miestelio kuriame yra bivuokas (techninio aptarnavimo zona). Pagal organizatorių žemėlapį, visai netoli nuo bivuoko turėtų būti ir greičio ruožas tad, paklausau patarimo ir važiuoju už 50 km esantį Villa Carlos Paz miestą. Kelionė trunka apie valandą. Ten nueinu į vietinę turistų informaciją, kur man duoda žemėlapį su nuoroda kur rasti bivuoką, bet apie šiandienos greičio ruožą man nieko pasakyt negali. Pasiūlo nuvažiuoti iki La Falda miestelio, pro ... read more

Now travelling independently caught a coach inland (using some very basic Spanish along with some fluent pointing), across the flat pampas for 10 hours to Argentina's second city Cordoba - a relaxed university city with Jesuit buildings in centre. A morning sitting in the sun listening to local buskers was contrasted with a sobering visit to museum to the thousands of disappeared during the military rule in the 70s set in the old police station. Headed out of the city into the nearby mountains, staying at the pleasant resort town of La Cumbre with its fine Heladeria (ice cream shops). Next day did a very hot hike up the 2000m Cerro Uritorco mountain, famed for its UFO visits (not making it up - have a look on wikipedia - also just missed day it was closed ... read more

At the beginning of December I arrived in Cordoba, the second city of Argentina, ready to settle down for another period of study at a language school. The first positive was that after completing a written exam and conversation “interview” with the class co-ordinator I had moved up from the “A2 beginner” level that I was being taught in Buenos Aires, to the “B1 intermediate” level here in Cordoba – so it seemed the Spanish practice on the road had been useful! (There are six levels, beginner (A1 & A2), Intermediate (B1 & B2) and advanced (C1 & C2). The school was very friendly, although they seemed to be in the middle of a bit of a recruitment drought when I arrived as I'm sure for the first week there were more staff at the school ... read more

Sleeping on a bus is easier if your fellow passengers keep their mobile phones on silent and don't receive messages all night. It's also easier if they close the curtains so toll booth lights don't shine directly in your face and if you don't get woken at a very early hour for breakfast. Not happy Jan! We were really pleased that when we got to the hotel the room was immediately available and the Argentina vs Australia match was on the TV. We were able to shower, watch the game and have a bit of a sleep, all before lunch. Harriet didn't think that was enough sleep for her, so Toby and Fiona left her to sleep some more and went off to discover the city of Cordoba. It was stinking hot when we walked out ... read more

On this page I would talk about my internship, particularly what I have achieved, discovered, and shared through the NGO Nuestra Córdoba. Primera Parte First of all, few words to describe Nuestra Córdoba, a NGO dedicated to the construction of a city more Fair, Democratic and Sustainable. These broad ideological goals are applied to a very located and specified area: the town of Córdoba, second Argentinian city. To achieve these goals, the NGO has built a wide network of associations specialized in ten themes (Environment, Urbanization, Participative Democracy, Public Transport, Health, Education, Economic and Social Development, Public Budget Control, Urban Mobility and Culture). What I found quite new and very interested with Nuestra Córdoba's approach is their determination to implement a Bottom-Up strategy a... read more

Our overnight bus from Mendoza arrived in Cordoba at dawn, giving us little time to wake up and get our stuff together before we were walking half asleep through the terminal trying to find a bus or taxi to take us to our hostel. As it turns out, there are no local buses from the terminal and we had to wait in a 20 person cue for a taxi. Fortunately the taxi was chearp and we arrived promptly to the hostel. Our beds weren't ready at that hour of the morning, and as we were not going to waste any time, we set out to wakl the city soon after our arrival. Our first stop was at an underground Jesuit mission. It was only recently rediscovered in 1989, when a paving crew uncovered it while renovating ... read more

Left the Estancia around 9.30 am for a short drive to Cordoba, a reasonably large city. Arrived around lunch time and checked into a hostel where we were able to upgrade to a double room with private bathroom. We checked in and went around the corner to buy some lunch from an empanada bakery where the selection would have been excellent had they had all varieties available although cooking was continuous. After a chicken and a vegetarian with ricotta cheese empanada each and a drink, we wandered into town to the Main Square. We had a look at the Cathedral and walked down the pedestrian area and looked at the shops. We then returned to the hostel and had showers and sat around a while and walked back into the centre to find a restaurant for ... read more
