I woke up with a pretty good hangover but I dragged my butt out of bed for work. I made some toast and then went to see how Carolin was. She was worse off then me haha. She asked me for some toast so I brought her a piece and then she couldn’t remember asking for it and told me she didn’t want it haha. Silly girl! She had to ask for the day off because she couldn’t get out of bed haha. I was on kitchen duty which was ok. After work we didn’t do anything else. Carolin and I just layed around on the couches and drank a lot of water haha.... read more

Happy Halloween!!! After work today we all ended up going to the bead store. 5 of us girls sat around and each of us made something different. I made 2 bracelets. We were there for a good couple of hours again. After dinner we ate the famous Sequoia Lodge chocolate pudding. Carolin and I wanted to go out for halloween so we drank some wine and then walked into town. The Irish pub was open of course and full of people in costumes. It was great! We had a good time and met some cool people who are working at some of the other hostels in town. We met Sheldon and Joes, a couple of kiwi guys outside. Found out that he was only 18 which made us both laugh. Then he guessed that I was ... read more

After work today we went to the library again. Stayed there for about an hour before Carolin and I went over to the bead store. It’s this awesome store where you can buy any and every kind of bead you can imagine and then sit there and make your own jewellery. You get to design it and make it. We both ended up making necklaces. Mine is with turquoise stars and circles with some hematite. It’s awesome. We spent a good 2 and a half hours there before heading back and making burgers for our woofer dinner. It’s so funny, we bought some frozen burgers because they are cheaper and as we are eating them we are all thinking, these taste like lamb. Turns out they were lamb burgers which is the cheapest meat. So strange!!!! ... read more

Was on bathroom duty today. Julia helped me which was cool. I relaxed in the afternoon while Carolin and Patty went to get their hair cut. Julia, Yvonne and I were sitting outside when they came back and Patty had her hair hidden under her hood and did not look happy. She hated it and thought it was too short. But they had both bought some hair dye and I did it for them. Patty dyed hers chocolate brown and Carolin dyed hers hypnotic red. We had a good time with it. I think both of them look great! ... read more

Was up early and ate some breakfast. Today is my day off so I headed off on a hike. I had to walk around the marina as the foot bridge was being worked on and then started the hike to Bob's bay. It's an awesome hiking trail right along the coast from Picton and you can see the ferries coming in and out. I saw a sign and a trail that headed up so I took it. At the top there was a gravel road that led to the Snout track. It has some amazing views of the Queen Charlotte Sounds. I took loads of pictures and had a good day for it. By the time I got back to the hostel though my legs were hurting and I couldn't wait for a shower! The sun ... read more

Lots and lots and lots of beds to do again today. But i’m getting really fast at it now. It’s not so bad. And today was sunny!!! After work we walked into town but since we’re trying not to spend any money we just came back to the hostel and played yahtzee on the back deck enjoying the sun. Made pizza for dinner again tonight, super yummy. A canadian girl was put into our room and she’s from Calgary but lives in Red Deer now. Super nice girl and she loves the flames as much as I do so it was good to talk hockey again with someone who actually cares haha. And the Flames beat the Oilers tonight so it was a wicked day!!!!... read more

Everyone but two people were leaving today so we had to make up 38 beds. There was so much stuff to do! I was on bed duty and then I helped with the laundry as there was so much of it. We played a game of yahtzee and then Ben gave all of us some special ice cream for our hard work and for having to stay in the cabin haha. A new group came in today as part of a wedding party. The bride and groom got married on the ferry over from Wellington. The bride’s dress was hideous!!! It was a huge white poofy thing and then she also had a huge white poofy thing in her hair. Strange. Sorry I didn’t get any pictures of it. But the hostel was full up again ... read more

Audrey left after lunch today and we were all sad to see her go. She’s off to Christchurch for a bit and then Australia. Every friday we get free dinner so we decided to make our own pizzas. It was the best meal we’ve made! A tour group of 25 people was coming in late tonight after Ben closed reception so he left me in charge of getting them all to their rooms. It was craziness. But with the help of Carolin we got everyone checked in and happy. But because of this tour group 5 of us who are woofing had to move to a different place out of the hostel for the night. Peter (the hostel owner) put us in a cabin at the holiday park. So around 10 pm we decided to head ... read more
