We left Kaikoura this morning for our long long drive down to Omaru! We left the campsite at 6am and everything was sooo peaceful. As we headed around the bay we spotted some seals on the rocks, Sean quickly stopped the van and we jumped out to see them. It was amazing they were so close to us and there was no one else around and the sun was just starting to rise! We finally arrived there at 2 and checked into the only campsite there! We only planned to stay here one night and the main attraction was the very rare yellow eyed penguins, so we headed straight down to the beach to try spot them! We only managed to see a couple and some were really far away apart from one little one posing ... read more

A beautiful sunrise greeted us this morning, as we made our way to the hotel restaurant for an early buffet breakfast. It had been a clear, chilly night, and promised to be a nice morning. After breakfast, we started the drive to Dunedin. We drove past Lake Benmore, and stopped at the Benmore Dam which is used for hydro-power. Following the Waitaki River to the coast, we stopped for morning tea at Moeraki Boulders. A sea mist started rolling in, and turned the day a little bleak. We arrived into Dunedin at about lunchtime. After taking some photos of the town, and particularly the Railway Station, and a lunch of wedges with salsa, bacon and melted cheese, we hopped onto the coach and headed for Olveston House – a grand old home. When we arrived at ... read more

hi. my name is brad. i am in new zealand. and we have seen yet even more cool stuff. Yesterday we finished up the adventure city of Queenstown with the famous Gondola. This is the launching spot for several hot activities. Bunjee, parasail etc. It is essentially a modern indoor skilift sort of thing to the top of a very large hill. Of course it cost way too much, and being hte ultra-fit people we are...me and lara hiked our way up. It made us stinky and hot on a cold day...but we felt o-so in-tune with nature. At the top they have arranged some good times to be had on downhill luge karts. They have the scenic and the fast routes. Heaps of fun with just enough danger to make it thrilling. That night me ... read more
