Here's some pics taken of our last few days in Fiji. As you can see Sean made lots more friends on the beach who he built many hermit crab race courses with which kept him nice and busy while us girlies topped up our tans! We also managed to catch a beautiful sunset on the last night!... read more

Just thought i'd share a few pics from my birthday with you all! Sarah and Sean decided that they'd surprise me and have a cake made and it was yummy considering all we'd been eating was rice & bread! Mama and her team spent all day baking it and even had to get the ingredients and candles from the main land. As you can see we had a big table of friends by the time the cake was ready ;o) ... read more

We are waiting outside our hotel as we have been told we are being picked up at 0830 for our transfer over to Mana Island. There are about 30 other people here too but they are all waiting for either the Feejee experience or the awesome adventures buses. By 8.45 we are still here and everyone else has gone. Sean & Sar go inside to ring them, apparently we are now being picked up at 9am and our boat is now at 11am (it was suppose to be at 9.30). We are abit mad as we are now going to lose half our day travelling! At 9.20 an Indian lady comes running up to us saying how sorry she is and that we have to go quickly as our boat leaves in 10mins (i guess the ... read more

Well after being in New Zealand for 2 months in the freezing cold it was a huge relief to get to the Fiji Islands. It was in fact their winter there but you would never have thought it whilst lying in the sun on one of the 300 islands paradise beaches! Our first stop was Nadi (which is actually pronounced Nandi) and to the nadi bay hotel. We'd checked into there for a few days to get sorted before heading off to the islands. Nadi town was not the best place to be so most people head to islands as quickly as possible. It was a really run-down city, with locals hanging around all over the streets. As we walked down the street everyone was looking at us, we kept our heads down trying not to ... read more

Just thought we'd send you a few pics of the last week or so... ....Hot water Beach: this was a beach in the coromandel where you could hire a shovel and dig your own thermal pools, some spots though were just too hot and got to temperatures of 60 degrees!! Pikiri Beach horse riding: Apparently this is in the bbc's book of 100 things to do before you die..so only 99 to go! Sand Dunes at Cape Reinga & 90 mile Beach: We took a day trip out in a 4x4 which cruised along 90 mile beach (which is actually only 64 miles) then up to the very top of the country-cape reinga-where to 2 different oceans meet. On the way back we stopped at some huge sand dunes where we slid down them on body ... read more

(written by Sean ) Down the hill we go...15...20..25mph, i'm picking up speed, i see Emma upfront and i'm gaining on her and at a fast rate! I take the steep sharp corners with relative ease and now she is within touching distance. I see my opportunity to over-take and take it with success...she has been passed and my next target is Sarah!!! I thought this may have been harder but passing her was as easy as passing the first of the 'Bond Sisters'...staying on the tracks however was another story! My built up confidence was soon to be shattered. I see in front of me a countlet of logs thinking that i can memouvere around them was the image that didn't stay in my head for very long. As I barely make it past the ... read more

We picked up Sarah yesterday from Auckland airport and headed straight down to Waitomo! Sarah was really tired so we all spent the rest of the day relaxing. The weather has been pretty pants...loads and loads of rain! In the afternoon we decided we'd venture out and book up some 'black water rafting'. On the big day we were up bright and early, had are breaky and headed over to the office for 0830. Not long after we arrived the guide(Simon) turned up and was really nice and full of jokes, we knew from then it was gonna be a fun day! It said that we were expecting 2 other people but they were late. Eventually they turned up, "they gotta be German" Sean said but they were actually English and from Brighton and turned out ... read more

Friday 28th April 2006 We'd gone back in time-we were in the early 1900's in a little place called 'shantytown'. This is a recreated living village famous for its gold mining. As we walked through this cute little village we passed an old fashioned post office which you can still post and receive mail from with its 'shantytown stamp' on it, and the old bank and also the 'golden nugget hotel'. Walking through these doors we found ourselves now part of the village-i was now the barmaid and sean was the mean looking guy with a shotgun. After we posed for the cameras and sean had finished playing with his gun we headed next door for some good old penny sweets and enjoyed them whilst sitting on a real steam trin passing through 'china town' and ... read more

Wednesday 26th April 2006 We walked down to the glacier office for 10:30am which is when we had to check in. We were kitted out with all our gear such as ice-boats with metal spikes on them, raincoats, socks, hats & gloves! We then boarded the coach which took us to the valley at the base of the glacier. It didn't look that far at all or very big but it was actually an hours walk to the ice...walking through rivers and the rainforest too. Once at the base of the ice we put our spikes on our shoes and we were ready to get climbing! The group was split into 2 groups 13 and our guide was Lucas. He got started straight away chopping steps for us as he went. At first it was pretty ... read more
