Nukuin pitkaan: kahdeksaan. Olikin kova tuuli ja piti pukea paalle eilista enemman. Hain turistineuvonnasta matskua ja kavin katsomassa parlamenttitaloa. Paluumatkalla ajoin makea ylos ja alas rinneratikalla (cable car). Kiertelin kaupoissa. Ostin alushousuja 4 kappaletta hintaa 20 dollaria. Kavelin kansallismuseoon (Te Papa), jossa viivahti pari tuntia.

Kaksi lakea

Aamulla jututin hostellissa kaljupaista kaveria. Matkustin bussilla Tauposta Wellingtoniin klo 10 - 16. Alkumatkasta bussi pysahtyi, jotta saatoimme kuvata kahta hienoa vuorta. Puolimatkan jalkeen siirryin eteen istumaan. Vieruskaverina oli kaljupainen kaveri. Han oli 49-vuotias Joachim Saksasta, m [View Full Entry]

[View Full Entry]

A family photo on the way out of Reefton
Our travel blog is back! It is amazing how fast our year in Reefton has gone. The last few months have simply flown by for us all. February was jammed packed with work, farewells and packing. I will try to go back and fill in some of the blanks on the blog, but for now we are back on the road again. On the way out of Reefton, we stopped at the town sign to take a picture of the family (see accompanying picture). This time we took a picture of the back of the sign to bookend our visit. after another scenic bus ride through the land of life, we arrived at sunny wellington. in wellington we got a tour round the city ion the coach then headed up to the mountain in the middle of the city where you can get a 360 degree view. that was cool, you could see so much. and on the way up the hill you could see the place they used in the LOTR when frodo, sam, etc hid from the narscool (!?) on that path - if you don't get me don't worry about it, i'm going to be pointing it out [View Full Entry]

I know it's been about three weeks since I was in Wellington but I thought I had better get up to speed with this blogging business. I stayed in Wellington for a few days; it was indeed windy but not that different to coastal towns back home really. As cities go, Wellington is one of the nicest I have been to. Not too noisy and there are still things to do that aren't over crowded. It did rain quite a bit while I was there though so I didn't do too much. I walked around the Botanical Gardens which was nice [View Full Entry]

Music on a Saturday night in Welly

Hi everyone! We're now in the North Island! For anyone following our itinerary you may have noticed we were due to fly out of Auckland to LA on 7th March, well we decided to change our flight, so we'll now be leaving Auckland on the 26th March! Giving us a few extra weeks to make sure we see the North Island properly! woooooo! We arrived in Wellington on the 26th Feb and that evening we met up with V's friend Janet, who lives in Wellington, for a drink at Mac's Brewery. And later on Toby joined us after a long drive [View Full Entry]

A volcanic spring originating deep beneath the surface creates thermal pools on the beach (although our group didn't have time for a proper soak).
So Stray Bus then. My trip North of Aukland had been rather disorganised, but things got a whole lot worse at the start of my main trip. The bus didn't even make it out of the city before breaking down (on it's way up Mount Eden). After a 2 1/2 hour wait, our replacement bus was bigger and better so things weren't all bad. In fact, since then my Stray experience has gone swimmingly - fingers crossed for the rest. The best thing about Stray? A big majority of lovely ladies! The bus takes its passengers on a set route, and [View Full Entry]

The Kiwi Experience Bus
The Kiwi Experience Bus
Jerky Berky was my first driver. He claims his name is because of his jerky driving; we weren't quite sure.
Tuesday morning I boarded my Kiwi Experience bus, which was packed full, and we headed off to Kaikoura. It was about a two and a half hour drive with a couple stops in between. In Kaikoura I went whale watching which was a lot of fun. We were able to see 3 sperm whales and hundreds of dolphins that flipped and jumped around our boat. They were a lot of fun to watch. Wednesday morning we left Kaikoura and went to Picton where we caught the ferry over to Wellington on the North Island. It took just over 3 hours to [View Full Entry]
