This is the big trip across the Gibb River Road. We had a full tank of petrol, the fridge was overflowing with meat (much of it vacuum packed to keep longer), and every nook and cranny in the car was full of vegetables, fruit and other food items. Our first stop was El Questro, a five star outback resort, but we were down at the camp site. But what a camp site we had - a private remote site on the Pentecost River bank. We walked into and swam in the El Questro and Moonshine gorges and wallowed in the warm Zebedee Springs before taking a boat trip on the Chamberlain Gorge. The day was rounded off with a glass of champagne on the return boat trip. The scenery in El Questro was beautiful with orange ... read more

Continued down Gibb River Road and stopped at Ellenbrae Station (owned by Grollo’s) for Devonshire tea. Huge scone was enough for lunch. Left about 2.20pm for King Edward River. Got stuck behind a Britz car for a while and arrived around 6.10pm - Dark. Set up, had tea and spoke to a couple that drove to Mitchell Falls for the day and back and left their camper at King Edward River. A nice couple from East Kew offered to lend us their spare tent if we wanted to leave our camper behind, but we only had a doona for us and no bed rolls. Had a relaxing day by the river and people we met the night before had a kayak and let the kids have a couple of rides in it. Rod & I after ... read more

When we crossed the border from NT into WA we had to put our clock back 1½ hours. This meant that we hadn’t even finished lunch yet, but we had already had it. The time changed from 3.30pm back to 2pm. Wyndham had a giant crocodile sitting outside the post office on some soft grass. Dad took my photo by it, and the croc was smiling. At the caravan park where we stayed there was a Bush Donkey that lived there. It came around Brekkie and Dinner Times for veggies and bread and whatever he could get. I reckon he was cute. I had a plane flight over the Bungle Bungles at 6am in the morning from Kununurra. It took over 2 hours to get to the Bungle Bungles and back. We also flew over the ... read more

Arrived in Wyndham, saw a giant crocodile outside the post office and had a photo taken with me. Stayed the night and saw a Bush Donkey. Went back to Kununurra and looked around and stayed overnight there. Next morning got up at 5.30am went on the bus to take us to the airfield for our flight over the Bungle Bungles. Our pilot was good. Had fun on the flight. Didn’t have a hard touch down. That exact same day we drove to the Bungle Bungles and camped. The next morning had a look at Echidna Chasm. It was narrow - only 1 metre in spots. Got to Piccaninny Creek and looked at Cathedral Gorge. It had stagnant water. I found out that when you throw a rock in the oil film, sooner or later, the hole ... read more
