Woke up late on a ‘home work’ allocated day, calves very sore I thought the bed socks were too tight but then realised I had done all that walking and climbing at Kooyoora State Park! Spent the morning working on one day’s entry with interruptions from the park White-wing Coughs; they are just so darn entertaining! Before starting on blog I went for a walk to try and warm the leg muscles up. The caravan park backs onto the old Wedderburn Reservoir which has a walking track around it. I just walked up the slope behind my cabin and turned right for a comfortable 15min stroll through some nice Box-iron Bark Woodland. Finished this first blog and went into Wedderburn for a roll and Sat Age. Ate ham & cheese roll in front of cabin trying ... read more

Today I decided to visit two of the sites the Info Centre lady had recommended; Kooyoora State Park and Mt Korong. First I went to Kooyoora State Park to the Melville Caves Picnic Reserve. I arrived at 9.30am and decided on which walk to do for the morning. The walk I choose was the long one, 5.3km approx 2-3hrs, so I did not get back to the picnic area until 1pm! Where I sat and had my muesli bar before climbing up to Melville’s Cave Lookout. The 5.3km walk is called the Long Rock Walking Track and it took me through some very interesting, diverse and colourful environments. ... read more

After going to bed at 11.30pm (dam that embarrassing body’s show!!) because I was finishing off a couple blogs. I did not get out of bed until 9.30-10.00am. It was really nice not to put in ear plugs for the first time; this caravan park at Wedderburn is not beside a major freeway or highway like Chiltern on the Hume Freeway or Murray Valley Highway at Gunbower. However it does seem to be under a major flight path. So for the morning or what was left of it, I did some domestic duties (cloths washing). And while I waited for each load to finish I watched the antics of the local White-wing Cough family (think Meerkats in bird form). They have about three youngsters with them, which is keeping all members very busy hunting around the ... read more
