DAY 151 I would never have thought in my wildest dreams that 5 months has gone by, today marks that moment. So much has happened, so much has been seen and we have been in conversation with so many people, I can honestly say we feel blessed. We have met the most amazing people along this journey, and everyone has a story, some funny, some dramatic and some bitterly sad, and we are thankful for all the people who have shared these with us and wish them all the best for their travels. If we had been critics on camper trailers and methods of getting around Australia, I feel we may have a good input somewhere. We thank the people who gave us good advice from the start, that has truly helped our early journey be ... read more

We arrived at Cummins Friday 23rd January; we left Cowell after a horrible windstorm, having the van covered in dust and so dirty that it is unbelievable. We made a stop to Arno Bay, a very pleasant place and still not too commercial. as against Tumby Bay which is. The Jetty in Arno Bay has a long history, and it is interesting to note that the Jetty expanded with time, but also became smaller as the sketches become redundant. Saturday we spend the day washing and putting the van back in order. The park is very quiet, and we are the only caravan in it. We did get some very tasty tomatoes from the caretaker that he picked an hour before. We were very impressed by this attention, and gentleness. Cummins has everything that one need, ... read more

A week when we achieved one of the big challenges-crossing the Nullarbor. We enjoyed our 2 days in Kalgoorlie and peered into the "Big Pit" and into a bordello. We did a 1 1/2 hour tour of Questa Casa, the oldest brothel in Kalg.We will have to tell you some of the stories when we speak to you!We stayed 3 nights on the Nullarbors to cover the 1200kms.Met some strange objects on the road(see photo),drove the longest straight in Aust.(146kms),took in the breathtaking views of the Bight, and had 2 sessions watching whales at "the Head of the Bight" near the Nullarbor Roadhouse where we stayed overnight. There were 60 cows with calf dotted around the bay where we were and we got within 100m of them-you could stay and watch for hours. Now we are on the Eyre Peninsula at Coffin ... read more

Still at Port Lincoln in the break between Christmas and New Year and we get the good news that Jeremy, Michelle and Lucy will be coming direct to our campsite for 24 hours on their way to the Tamworth Country Music Festival, so we were able to see the New Year in with part of our family, also Michelle's mum and dad Bill and Rita and Michelle's Grandma Zidra. We sat in our chairs under the stars looking over the Southern Ocean watching the few fireworks that were set off, a real no - no as there was a total fire ban. As this is a fishing port a few people over in the town of Port Lincoln, 10 km away, decided illegally to set off some emergency beacon flares. Everyone watched as they decended to ... read more

Hi All This is the second effort at the Barossa news-first journal disappeared into the great computer in the sky after nearly an hour of typing. Not happy Jan! Will save more regularly this time. Consequently I will keep this one a bit shorter and just run through the ten days in the Barossa. We stayed in the driveway of friends Anne and Rob Gibson at Light Pass just outside of Nuriootpa. Very convenient as they have their own winery and cellar door sales on the other side of the house. Arrived on Friday 24th to an absolute downpour and got rather damp setting up camp so had a quiet night at the pub and John found someone else to play golf with on Saturday. Luckily Saturday dawned bright and warm for golf and also for ... read more
