Fast Forward and we’re at Seisia. We did an overnight sail from Cape Grenville to Seisia, originally planning on possibly stopping at the tip of Cape York. However, after reading that the anchorage is only Ok and with a strong wind warning current, decided to head on to Seisia. What a great move. Such a lovely little anchorage. The night sail was ok, but not as good as our last one. At one stage we had a ship coming in front of us, one coming up our rear and all going to meet in a narrow dog-leg in the shipping channel. We got way over left, as far out as we dared and left them to pass each other very closely. But back to Seisia, a very lovely little community, excellent, calm anchorage in strong winds ... read more

June 8 - June 15 We overnighted at the campground at the Jardine River and were up early to catch the first ferry of the day. After the rigors of the OTL the final dirt roads heading towards Bamaga and Seisia, the most Northerly towns on the cape, were a delight, though the ever present clouds of dust were with us. There are several communities around these towns, all different indigenous communities so we were told. Seisia is Torres Straight Islanders, Bamaga about 4km inland is Aboriginal, the settlement of New Mappoon, between the two is a relocated Aboriginal tribe from around Weipa, none to happy to be there and Umagi is yet another group, all have not too much to do with each other it seems. Nevertheless everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful! My ... read more

DAY 337 I hear Andy moving around outside it is before 6.00, I try to get back to sleep but cannot so I give in and get out of bed, I think Andy is again surprised to see me awake so early in the day. Not long after we see Billy and Jeanette appear, they also wake up early as the daylight encroaches the inside of their tent. We have a cup of tea and discuss our plans for the day, soon I get toast on the go using up the last of our strawberry jam, that is one luxury we will do without until we arrive back in Cairns and of course well stocked supermarkets such as Woolworths. As if on cue the dog arrives to see if her breakfast is ready, we think ... read more

DAY 335 We planned today to “have a day off” today and boy we were looking forwards to it. We want to basically just enjoy the environment here, we are camped right on the beach edge, the water is a beautiful turquoise colour, palm trees and other such tropical plants line the edge creating pockets of shade from the harsh sun. There is not much of a breeze this morning so we think it will be a hot one. We both awoke early again, but did not get out of bed straight away, no rush today after all, at 7.00 the kettle got the better of us, it was not quite calling but you could see it sat on the stove awaiting a fill of water to make us both a cup of tea. No ... read more

DAY 333 We were up early again this morning as it was our first morning waking up in Seisia it was 6.30am, Pronounced (Say-Sha) so we are reliably informed, but probably we will be proved wrong. We are in Cape York and today is quite a special day, well not quite, but it is a special day. Not only are we in Cape York, the most Northerly tip of Australia, but we have been away from the United Kingdom 11 months today, WoW! That is quite a milestone in our epic journey, I cannot quite believe that we are only 1 month away from our 12 month mark that we left England. When we came around the top through Darwin, Boraloola, then Normanton, etc, we knew that to finish our “Circumnavigation” then we would have ... read more
