Geo: -26.6925, 152.895Got up to see Maddie and her two friends who had slept over in their swags (very substantial sleeping bags) go off to a Supernova convention in Brisbane, all dressed up as Homestuck characters. It was another early start as they were picked up at 8.30am! Brekkie, then our tour guide (Lynya) started her activity programme which took us inland to the Hinterland/Glass mountain region. Our personal chauffeur (Glen) took us first uphill via windy roads to a quaint little town, Montville where we had a coffee looking out on a spectacular view towards the Sunshine Coast. Visited lots of gift shops, including a dedicated Christmas shop (hardly surprising when we are staying with the biggest lover of everything Christmas!) Before I moved I had some doubts, and so did my friends, about me moving to the Sunshine State. Basically the problem was that Queensland doesn’t have any wineries, of so I thought. Since moving here I have been very pleasantly surprise by the fact that while driving around we have come across a number of wineries and the wine has been quite good! The car ride up to Brisbane was not as scenic as the highway jogged away from the coast as did the mountain range. Unbeknownst to me the Zoo was about an hour away from the city. In taking the next days drive into consideration we opted to get as close to the Zoo as possible. Adding an additional two hours to the next days trip was highly undesirable. All of what we saw of Brisbane was from the highway. As we got closer to the Zoo we stopped in a small town and found an information center. I really wanted to do some more outdoors type activities and requested that we visit the rainforest areas.
