After two wet days, one at Rainbow Bay and a side trip to Maleny where we couldn’t see past the car for misty rain and fog, we were relieved that the Sunshine Coast lived up to its name and the sun shone. We enjoyed Noosa, riding the ferry down the river, sitting by the beach in the sunshine and, always, the shops. We decided we’d visit Coolum for a night as we hadn’t stayed there before. Coolum is on the southern end of the beautiful long white sand beach around the headland from Noosa. It was very nice there, the weather was sunny and warm and even a diversion south to the big mall at Maroochydore to buy and post birthday presents didn’t dampen our spirits. The natural area around Maroochy and Mooloolaba is lovely, but ... read more

Am ... read more

Made the 260 kms to Grafton last night and spent the evening with Craig Bellamy and his daughter, Sara. Craig is a planner we met in Samoa. We decided we should go to Coffs Harbour for the day (175 kms rtn) as there was a huge gathering there for the AGM of the Ulysses club (for aging motorcycle riders) and we thought it would be a good place to find out more about inter-motorcycle communication equipment, GPS and other things we might need for our adventure. They said there were six thousand cyclists there and I believe them. We joined Ulysses.... read more

20.02.06 Hello all you bloggers out there, this is our farming experience. Ok so today we were up mega early (5:45) for our trip south of Brisbane to our farmstay in a small place called Ma Ma Creek, which is near the town of Gatton. In true Andy and Mel Stylee we had researched the cheapest way of getting there which again was by train and a bus or two. We arrived at Gatton train station with plenty of time to spare where we waited for Sue our new boss for the week, to be picked up at 10:00am. It got to 10:30 and there was no sign of here, so Andy gave her a ring and apparently she told us to use the bus (which was more expensive) so a few minutes later we were ... read more
