I woke early and went out to watch the birds and kangaroos here for the last time. It was misty but I could still see across the paddock next door and it gave the area a mystical look, which was lovely. I haven’t seen the Bush Stone Curlews for a few days and they weren’t there today either. Maybe they’ve moved on. When Barry got up we had breakfast, packed up and left about 9.40am. We drove straight to Duaringa to dump our waste water and top up the tank. There was a sign next to the dump point which had a poem welcoming visitors and inviting them to come across to the Information Centre nearby. Another "free camp" at Bedford Weir, Blackwater which is a small coal mining town. We stayed here for 3 nights and absolutley froze! Tried some red claw which another camper caught and cooked up. Tastes like a scallop. Now we are on the hunt for some red claw traps to cart around with us. Finding other travellers to be very friendly. Everyone want's to know where you are going and where you've been. Getting lots of advise from the grey nomads :-) Have come accross a few people our own age which is nice for a change. On saturday we spent 6+hrs socialising with the other campers. Even got invited into a caravan for morning tea! It was great to get out of the cold.
