DAY 247 Saturday morning and it’s a day for a lie in, ok so everyday is a lie in at the moment but who’s counting? We are on holiday after all and I am sure it won’t be too long before we rejoin the merry go round and get back to work, when I say too long, a few months maybe. Andy was trying to have a shower this morning, but the cubicles were continually busy, there are only 3 shower cubicles at this end of the park, that is to say 3 each in the men’s and 3 each in the ladies, every time he tried they were busy. The second time he came back to wait, he was carrying armfuls of stuff and a small grin. I said, “you were quick, you haven’t ... read more

Goodmorning, It is the most beautiful morning here in Darwin. I am sitting on the hotel verandah enjoying the sunshine and listening to the gentle waves rolling into the Darwin harbour. We are having a fantastic time. Last night we went to Dee and Kieran's wedding and had a fantastic time. Sarah and Rachel loved every minute of it. I did too of course. The bride looked fantastic and everything was perfect. I designed all the stationery for the wedding and it too looked great. It was nice to see it all laid out after many months of preparations. Today, after breakfast we are off to explore Darwin. We might head of to the crocodile park this afternoon, although we have already seen one. Dee had organised a baby crocodile at the wedding, so we all ... read more

DAY 246 Another start to the day, the sun gradually invites itself into our campsite heating the day up rather rapidly. We are enjoying having toast for breakfast every morning while we have the opportunity, of course washed down with the obligatory cup of tea, or two. Andy wants to do a little bit more cleaning on the truck, that is take off the spare wheel and the bracket (the piece that attaches it to the rear door) in order to clean properly in behind it. Since we bought the truck in Nambour those 8 months ago, we have done our best to keep it clean, but the dust gets everywhere and sometimes it needs a little bit more than just a wash. Andy of course is quite fastidious in these matters, if I washed the ... read more

Bloggers, We have been busted, not by the cops, but our blog hits. Our blog has been read over 20,000 times to date, as of this morning. We were delighted when we made 10,000 hits, as detailed in our blog "Amazing" 12 March 2009, when we were in Tasmania. So well done to ALL of our readers who have got it this far. Thank you. Hey everyone, We are in Darwin ready for Dee and Kieran's wedding today. We have had a great time and stumbled upon some great place like the Combo Billabong, were Banjo Patterson first penned his famous Waltzing Matilda. Rachel played the tune on her violin right beside the billabong. It was great. We have visited the Stockmans' Hall of Fame in Longreach, camped in Camooweal on the NT border, swan in the thermal springs in Mataranka and Bitter Springs - beautiful and checked out Litchfield National Park. Tonight we are all looking forward to our room at the Skycity Hotel in Darwin, after camping out on previous nights. Talk soon Suzanne ... read more

DAY 245 It was up and away this morning, after the usual routine, we wanted to, have to get something done. Well, after we had a Skype call from the Travelin Trueys that is, or the Not So Travelin Trueys, I should say. Our fridge supply power pack still has not arrived so after a call to In and Outboard Marine, Michael tells Andy he can come down a pick a replacement up, and when the Eva cool’s replacement finally arrives then In and Out board marine will keep the replacement part. We were pretty desperate to get something done as the fault light on the fridge had reappeared, it is still plugged into the truck and as we are not doing so many kilometres at the moment it is draining the battery. We drive through ... read more

We reached our final destination on the west coast! It has been a long slog but we had loads of fun and Darwin is a pretty cool town. It is SUPER hot there though, it was easily reaching 35 everyday. We just sorted out a campsite and cooked some food and stuff on the first day but on the second day we chilled by the pool and then headed out for the night to celebrate driving 6000km! Darwin is a nice city, very easy to navigate and reasonably small but it has everything you could need. One of the streets was just bar after bar after bar so we spent the evening there doing a bit of a pub crawl, and ending in some very bad karaoke! I was totally mauled by sandflys unfortunately - it ... read more

Morning Bloggers, Well its 8 month today since we left Heathrow on that Silver Sausage, outward bound. I probably enjoy putting these blog stats in to remind us, when we look back at this adventure, just what has been done. We have done about 32,000 K's in the Patrol and it has definatly been the tool for the job, it has taken us to places that would have been unaccesible if we hadn't of had it. The Trailer tent has been great, even if you don't want one, you ought to go and buy one just for the crack, some times in distant memories I can remember it being cold, but that is a distant memory fortunately. DAY 242 Its Monday morning, I’m not wishing my life away but I’m glad it is here, why I hear you all ask in unison, well this morning I have an interview with a recruitment consultant, who I made contact with and I’m getting my wrist watch back to day after months of being without it. Let me tell you about the watch first, Caroline bought me a beautiful watch for my 40th birthday on or two years ago, so apart from any monetary value it is of particular sentimental value to me. Even though my watch is approved for immersion in water to up to 100 meters somehow water had got into it, and it stopped, well here is the rub it was out of warranty by 17 days and I was not impressed, 2 ... read more
