Nice early start and breakfast on the go as we’d already used our single set of wooden cutlery for dinner last night! We also wanted to get to the Koala Hospital in Port Macquarie when they opened at 08:30 to see the Koala’s being fed their morning leaves. We were greeted on the way in by one of the many volunteers there who explained what they do and ran through their current resident koala’s on the status board which detailed when they arrived, what the issue was and the cause if known, and what they were doing to help them. The issues ranged from disease (Chlamydia mainly), dog attacks, falling from tree’s, car strikes and a little joey being orphaned when his mum drowned in a swimming pool. They had some lifetime residents there too who ... read more

It has been a few years since I fell off my motorcycle in East Timor and that is due to spending many weekends and many hours after work collaborating my first book. It's called 'FROM BACKPACKER TO TRAVELLER' and it describes my travels during my pre-blogging days. It can be bought either by E-book or Paperback E-book through Amazon Kindle http://www.amazon.com/BACKPACKER-TRAVELLER-Drew-Prineas-ebook/dp/B00V5FH9PI/ref=tmm_kin_swatch_0?_encoding=UTF8&sr=8-1&qid=1427590936 Paperback through Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Backpacker-Traveller-Drew-Prineas/dp/0994257503/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1427590936&sr=8-1&keywords=drew+prineas Here is the description - Drew was preparing to become a marketing genius when he left Australian shores to work in the UK, only for travel to get in the way. With his first footsteps on the plane, his two-year overseas trip changed to a travell... read more

Decided to ferry all the way from Circular Quay, up the harbour, up the Parramatta River and it finishes as a creek. Spent the day walking around the parks and a very good Westfield shopping centre which is located adjacent the railway station. Fast train took us back to the city for a little wander before heading home to Kirrawee.... read more

Below us is a barge, a dot in the bright blue Pacific Ocean. In the distance is my home. 16 hours since I left Los Angeles I thought of the ease it was to get here. One time in Africa I waited 24 hours just for a bus to leave the bus station, now I’m almost home. I was flying with a Fijian airline, Air Pacific and couldn’t help but link the closeness of the name to the TV series Lost’s airline, “Air Oceanic.” All we needed now was to land safely. As the great city of Sydney came in the line of sight, the plane would provide the greatest show any airline has provided upon my return. At times it was as if the planes wings were touching the rooves of the houses below as ... read more

After the crazy shenanigans last night I pretty much had missed all the sessions on the final day of Pre-con. I had a few hours to spare so I wander around the House of Friendship, a gigantic hall with various stalls either selling products (water filters etc.) or promoting a various cause (like a project regarding literacy). With hundreds of stalls it was quite overwhelming. They also had an area for a band, a childrens area, internet cafe and parade. One water filter was only $40 and relied only on gravity to pass the water though a 0.1 micron filter. It was also reusable and can be cleaned by backwashing it. Perhaps we could have a project to raise money to send these filters to areas where clean water is not available. In the afternoon it ... read more

Ok, so, I had the whole of today to pack and make my sleeping bag liner but being me, I slept in, watched TV and then had an afternoon nap. When I was actually ready to get up it was 5pm. I was pumped. I busted out mum's old sewing machine, actually, its pretty ancient. They don't make them the way they used to. This should have been a 30 min job but being the idiot that I was, I measured the width from my legs so after I finished it, it was WAY too tight. Since I didn't have another sheet to start over I had to tack on some extra material to make it fit. So a 30 min job led to a 3hr job. After much sewing and then unpicking I had FINALLY ... read more

Howdy Time is flying too fast ! Less than a week to go before having to return. But let's not think about that. Saturday Feb 19th was a very hot and sunny day. So I started off with a nice swim at Sydney's North Olympic Pool. The pool from in which you have full frontal view on the Harbour Bridge. Despite that I will go on Monday to Bondi with my buddy Jason, I decided to go to Bondi as well on this nice day. After all, imagine that Monday would be a bad day from a weahter point of view. So what do u get if the weather is good and it is a Saturday : lots of people enjoying the beach. Fantastic. Even more fantastic was my walk into Cogee. I have done it ... read more
