Hello everyone! I just wanted to let you all know that Noel and I made it home safe and sound last Sunday night and we were very happy that James and Andrew were able to come and collect us from the airport now that Sydney is back in lockdown. Everyone was pleased to see us, but Matt's girlfriend was the happiest, because now she doesn't have to clean up after my sons any more. Anyone with sons will know that "boy" clean is not "girl" clean and poor Shae had to do extra work to make the place acceptable for her to live in. She even told me that after 8 weeks of staying/cleaning at my place, she doesn't want a big house anymore and doesn't want lots of kids anymore either! Thanks for looking after ... read more

Dear friends Well here we go again. In exactly six months from right this minute, Noel and I will be on board the Norwegian Pearl in Venice harbour waiting to sail for our 11 night cruise to Croatia, Montenegro, Greece, Greek Islands and Italy. Our cruise will be followed by 4 weeks of road tripping through Italy, Switzerland, Munich for Oktoberfest Ja!! Ja!!, Austria, Croatia and Slovenia. Noel will be driving a manual car, on the wrong side of the road to what he's used to, with a banged up hand that hasn't mended since his cricket accident 5 months ago and needs yet more surgery!!! It should be a HOOT and I should have LOTS of funny stories to share, together with beautiful pictures that will make you jealous. So if you are happy to ... read more

Last year I was silly/brave enough to welcome a stranger, from Austria, into my house for 6 months. Fortunately that stranger turned out to be the most wonderful young lady and she was a blessing to me during a really tough time with my mum and a scary health issue. Hannah was such a sweetheart and I grew to love her and was very proud to call her my "pretend daughter" to everyone. Well my pretend daughter decided to leave me in March and fly home to her real family and I miss her a lot, so I decided to be an annoying parent and invite myself over to visit with her in beautiful Klingfurth Austria! I am very grateful for the wonderful cyber friendship I have made with Hannah's mum, Petra, and I sure do ... read more

Welcome to my blog, to all the people receiving this for the first time. Please reply to this email if you do not want to get any further blogs from me. So the first scare for our travels has already happened and we haven't even left the country. I noticed I did not get my alert to tell me to do online checkin today. I thought to myself "I'd better go to the Virgin Australia site and do it." I kept getting the message ..."You have no upcoming trips planned". O...M...G!!!!! I usually book tickets direct and this time I had booked online via Flight Centre. I was thinking "Did they actually pass on my booking to Virgin?" A phone call (and one heart attack later) I got onto someone who said that because I was ... read more

Well the bookings are nearly all done. We are flying out of Sydney in exactly 22 weeks from today. Thank you Fiji Airways for a great price on the days that I wanted to travel. There's nothing much else I can do now until July when I will be able to organise my last minute accommodations in Vancouver, Lake Louise and Anchorage. I'll have to book some hire cars late July too. In the meantime I need to hope that the AUD/USD exchange rate improves for my spending money that we'll need. It's getting so exciting!... read more

Hello everyone! Welcome to our final blog, and we have a lot to catch up on. Well, we had another couple days in Mooloolaba, we met the girls on Thursday morning and enjoyed another round of surfing with them, then on Friday we had our opening mass with the church and hung out with lots of the Canadians there, including Archbishop Smith. This was also the day we went to the Australia Zoo! We all got free face painting! And we enjoyed the Crocosseum show where we also saw Terri Irwin (Steve Irwin's wife) and enjoyed the many animals there. We got to pet a koala, feed an elephant, and also feed and pet kangaroos! One of our host families held a barbeque for us that night so we spent the night singing, eating kangaroo (SOOOO ... read more

It is 2:09am and i have finally FINISHED packing! what a trial that was! After a whole day of running around doing errands and being manic...i had to figure out how to fit the next 3 weeks of my life into a backpack. Unfortunately I didn't succeed and in fact succumbed to the lure of the suitcase instead. With the help of the very experienced and well traveled Phuongy (much love woman! We managed to organise and cull the mountain of stuff that was on my bed. Thanks for all the support, and the cheese helped heaps too! Where would I be if you weren't there to save me from myself and over-packing (like I normally do). So, now it's off for the last sleep in my own bed for the next 3 weeks. Trying my ... read more
