This is the big one and I’ve looked forward to it since before I came! So many stalls with so much cool stuff and so many gorgeous people and so much grooving to the drumming! I put it out there for an invitation, and it came. Connected with J, I love spontaneity - how can I ever go back to four walls and a specific timetable? Beyond the darkness, we walked to the top of Protestor Falls, stopping to admire the communities of glow worms, bugs and funghi here and there - amazing creatures. These parts are apparently inhabited by an endangered species of froggus cutus. Torrential rain surrounding me and therefore no access to anything under my bed, including paper to document my thoughts… Pondering existence and existentialism in my van was tough. But I came through. Always slow to get moving the morning after though… Did I mention my invention of a camera that could capture smell? The warm green scent of a rainforest is something to be experienced…wish I could take it with me… and then a skinny dip in the falls had me renewed. This is giant goanna land! Potaroos potter around. Published: April 22nd 2005Oceania » Australia » New South Wales » Nightcap National ParkAfter spending a few days in Nimbin i had a crazy idea that i could hike all the way back to Byron Bay. Armed with a novelty map and a few days rashions i headed off solo into the mountains in the hope that i will find the ocean. I was so wrong! It didnt seem that long a way perhaps only about 50 km however i didnt expect that the majority of it would be uphill and steep aswell. After meeting a crazy man who told me the whole track had been closed off and that there were evil bunyips up there ( see Australian folklore ) I was determined to press on.
