Today was a chance to explore Saratoga, Wyoming. Saratoga has been special since the Native American’s discovered the healing Hot Springs here. The city grew up around the Hot Springs and was initially named Warm Springs. During a smallpox outbreak in 1887, infected individuals went to the Hot Springs and frequently, ( at least in legend) were cured. It became famous after that and a leading citizen, Fenimore Chatterton recommended they rename the city Saratoga after Saratoga Springs in New York. Tourists have been coming here ever since. A local told me there are several High End Dude Ranches in the surrounding area and a resort across the North Platt River known as the Saratoga Hot Springs Resort. After a better nights sleep, I enjoyed a good breakfast at the River Rock Cafe in Walden, Colorado and jumped on the bike for Saratoga, Wyoming. It is always exciting to anticipate entering another State. This will be my seventh state since leaving Yorktown, Va. To Review: Virginia, Kentucky,Illinois, Missouri, Kansas and Colorado. As I left Walden, I was back on the chip seal road. My hope was that when I entered Wyoming the roads would improve. Unfortunately that was a pipe dream. Only the name of the State is different. My ride today was through huge ranches with lots of grazing cattle and an occasional home and barn. There are few trees along the Wyoming 230 Highway. Travels with Snowbirds Tuesday July 30, 2013 Park City UT to Deer Run RV Park Saratoga WY I know, I know, I never wrote the Arches Blog. I have some amazing pictures from that day. I will get to it, as I will get to the wedding and some pictures, just not today. The wedding was a wonderful event that started on Thursday and ended on Monday. I was too tired to leave on Monday, so I cleaned Moya, did wash, grocery shopped, and took off early Tuesday morning. Welcome Karen & Darryl. Hope you enjoy the blog.
