Bozeman to Seattle, Seattle to Parris, Paris to Bangalore
Published: January 6th 2013North America » United States » Washington » SeaTac12.00 I had forgotten that the flight from Bozeman to SeaTac was two hours. For some reason, I thought it was shorter. Unusually, I didn’t—couldn’t sleep. Instead I read. And looked out the window. I love morning flights. As the plane took off, I was struck by how pretty the lights of Bozeman are, though not quite as pretty as the stars. If you haven’t seen the stars in western Montana… well, my heart aches a bit at the thought of not seeing them for four months. After the plane leveled out and the flight attendants gave me my surprisingly good coffee and cookie—that I dipped into the coffee until it was soft enough to dissolve on my tongue, but not soft enough to break into the cup, like my mom does—I looked ... read more
A good sleep as always at the Fairmont, we got moving downstairs looking for some breakfast. The hotel is located at the far end of the airport, so it allowed us to check out all the departure board. We started with the US, then international, and finally domestic so Penny could get a feel for where she might be going. I also tipped her off that it would be early afternoon that we would be leaving. Once breakfast was eaten, we headed back to the room and packed up our things, then down to the departure level. We were standing at the bottom of the escalator on the airport floor and I asked Penny, which direction are we going. She went forward to International and I went left to the Alaskan Airlines counter. She admitted to ... read more
We got an early start, it was a little chilly, but the skies were mostly clear, so it looked to be another great day. We rode up rt. 5 toward Seattle, with a little detour through downtown Portland because I took a wrong turn. Back on the highway, traffic was light and there were very few trucks. We stopped at Mt. St. Helens State Park, but the clouds obscured the mountain, so we didn’t ride the 27 miles up too the lookout point. We continued up rt. 5, Bill and Rick turned off at Mt. Rainer and I continued on to Seattle. I have been looking forward to seeing Seattle again ever since we decided to take this trip. I was curious to see how much it had changed since Microsoft came to town. Traffic was ... read more
Day 8 - Sept 7, 2012 - return home Today is the end of our cruise, sad to say, and its back to Orlando we go. We choose to use the RCI bus transportation (27.00 pp). The debarkation was very easy because they divided up the areas and there was plenty of seating for everyone. They did a good job with this process. In the future I would not use the RCI shuttle because they drop you off pretty far from the terminal. I felt so bad for the elderly guests who choose this transportation. For the price they should have delivered us closer to our airline terminal. It was easier for us to board the bus at the pier because we had a porter who brought us up to the front with our luggage and ... read more

The 'Mountie' Tour... aka the 'Try not to die' Tour of the Canadian Rockies.
Published: June 17th 2012North America » United States » Washington » SeaTacHey everyone! After a manic two weeks of 'camping' I'm now back in Seattle, at the Hilton no less! I can't really call it a camping trip as we only camped for 4 out of a possible 13 nights due to the horrendous weather, but to be honest that suited me just fine! I'm going to try to upload a few photos but the internet here is sadly lacking considering the reputation of the hotel! Ahhh! I've just uploaded a few photos but I have no time to actually write a blog now as I'm due to meet up with some of the girls from the tour in 5 minutes! Oh well... hopefully the photos will do for now. I'll write a proper update soon, promise! Lots of love, Streets. PS - Sam is now in ... read more
It is now about 8 pm Seattle time and I got up to start this trip home at 6 am from Rome. Adding in the 9 hour time change, I've been on the road, in the sky, or in some way or other making my way west for the past 24 hours, but since my math brain is not functioning too well, that may not be accurate. If you are reading this, you are more awake than I am, so you do the math. I just know it is a long time when you can watch most of three movies and still not be at your "final destination" and the airlines like to call, home. I'm throuwing in three final photos that reflect my last day in Rome. Friends were the high point of my trip, ... read more
Our Journey Begins...........
Published: March 4th 2012North America » United States » Washington » SeaTacFebruary 8, 2012.....after 16 months of planning the day finally dawned…well actually the sun was many hours from rising when I left home on Wednesday to meet up with my travel companion. Michelle and I hopped on the Bainbridge Island Ferry to Seattle, towing our luggage and backpacks, and then sped easily to SeaTac in a taxi van. 3.5 hours later we finally left Seattle and started on our way.... Of course the flight delay gave us time for one...or maybe that was two ?? Bloody Mary's.... so the gate changes and boarding may be a bit fuzzy. With the late start, we got to Chicago just in time to traverse the terminal and get right onto our next flight from ORD to London Heathrow. Hungry now (those green bean garnishes don't stay with you for ... read more
A funny thing happened on the way to the airport...
Published: October 15th 2011North America » United States » Washington » SeaTacWhen i arrived at the Victoria Airport I was surprised to see a line up. After all, there is rarely a lineup at YYJ let alone one at 5am on a Saturday. But things were going quickly and I wasn't in a huge rush. When I get to the kiosk to check in (it wouldn't allow me to check in electronically) the lady at the desk reminds me of the baggage fees I have to pay. $47 for 2 bags. Canadian cash only. Now, I've already switched over my Canadian money to American (thanks Mom) so I had about $28 Canadian on me. But, all was not lost, I did have my credit card... except I didn't. That is unfortunately sitting right by my mom's laptop at her house. So much for checking things twice. Thankfully ... read more
