After a leisurely morning of coffee and reading the paper we jumped in the truck and headed to the Smoky Mountain National Park. We are staying right at the base of the Park here in Sevierville and were told that the best scenic drive to take was the Cades Cove loop. It was a beautiful drive as we have found that Tennessee is turning out to be one of our favorite States. There are almost daily thunderstorms which keeps things very lush and green but surprisingly there aren't any bugs or mosquitoes! We visited Little Round Top, Pickett’s Charge and Confederate Way. There is so much history there that Theo and I decided we needed to make another trip to see it all. What a beautiful area. We headed southwest towards Tennessee, crossing through Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia before hitting Tennessee. We drove right by Bristol and saw the exit for the Nascar Speedway. Theo was soooo excited! We were all anxious to get to the cabin where we would be staying for 5 days. We needed the break. Our cabin is on the outskirts of the Great Smokey Mountains and is absolutely beautiful. ... read more

It's the 4th of July, but all things American are being pushed aside in my brain for now. Focus= Fiji! I'm leaving exactly one week from today. I've gotten all my shots (a big feat for me!), I've gotten everything I'm going to need, all that's left to do is pack. Speaking of packing.... ugh!... read more
