Here are some pictures I've gathered over the past month. The one in costume was taken on tour day (if you havne't seen the movie Fireproof, I recommend you go...it's a great movie.) After the movie we went to dinner, and then crashed the party that Trish (head housekeeper) and her husband were having for 25 teenagers. We didn't stay long! We will finish at Carson Springs on November 4, and will be moving to Talladega, just east of Birmingham. Gary and Sharon will be our leaders on that project too, and Marvin and Jackie are going there also. Everyone else is going home until January. We're going to spend a couple of days in Chatanooga, so I'll post from there. Enjoy the pictures.... read more
As long as they make the directions plain, I'll follow them.

(Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center) I've been so neglectful with blogging since we've been on this project. It's not that there isn't a lot going on, it's just that wifi service is so poor up here that it's a huge chore. We're hopeful that the next project will have better signal, and what we're really hoping is that we can use the internet in our bus. We’re finishing up on our work projects…the guys have destructed all the buildings the camp director wants destructed, and have put yard lights in where they’re needed. We have finished the housekeeper’s office, and all the upholstered chairs in the chapel have been shampooed and wiped. Now it’s just a matter of helping with the housekeeping on Monday and Tuesday, and then we’re finished. It got really cold here ... read more

(Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center) Can you believe it~~same day, and another entry! It's because I forgot to publish the one the other day! We made an afternoon trip to Dollywood. It is all we thought it would be~~it's like an overview of living in the country. There's one section that is a country fair, with the carnival and rides and eats. There's another section that's country music~~blue grass as well as gospel. It also has stores to buy instruments as well as music and clothing. And a museum for country singers. There's another section that has a craft fair/flea market theme. When I say section, I mean part tucked into the mountain! There's a lot of walking, and it's uphill and downhill. We didn't have enough time there, and really should have waited until we ... read more

(Carson Springs Baptist Conference Center) This project is different from any other we’ve been on because it primarily caters to adults. The conference center (lodge) is very large, and is as fine as any hotel; I don’t want to say it’s fancy, but it’s not a rough environment, like some we've been to. It’s been around for a lot of years, but recently they began updating (restoring) it, and the results are beautiful. There is Camp Carson for the kids, but it’s not at all a rustic camp. We have six couples on this project, and, again, they’re all new to us, with the exception of our lead team, Gary and Sharon, who we first met when RVICS came to our home church in Sidney. Gary and Sharon visited with us about RVICS and were ... read more
