South Park a animated televsion show that has just entered its 10th season and is more popular than ever. The reason why this animated comedy has lasted this long with growing popularity is because it is considered one of the funniest, wittiest shows on television that deals with every major news story and controversey in America. What started out as a "potty humor" show has gained the respect of adults and critics because it is one show that is so up to speed with current issues going on in the country. It has the innate ability to take very hot and touchy issues and blend it with humor that attracts children and adults a like. For example, the 10th season premiere which aired last night dealt with the world issue of the drawing the prophet ... read more

Yesterday I had to go visit a hospital in Philadelphia for one of my classes. They had a special unit just for eating disorders in teenagers and when one of the workers was talking to us and giving us a tour she was saying how they were going to open an eating disorder unit just for children. She was saying that problems with eating are now occuring in young children more and more frequently. It is so sad that this happens and I attribute it mainly to the advertisements and images portrayed by models and actors. Everyone strives to be just as thin as famous people because they relate that to having a better life. It is really unfortunate that this occurs because obviously these people are not healthy themselves and just because they are famous ... read more

If you think about it who would want to walk around all stinky and smelly. The answer is nobody. The invention of the washer and dryer was such a time saver. Without it people would still have to wash their clothes in the rivers and by hand. On average it only takes me about 45 minuets to do my laundry. The average household has a washer and dryer and if they dont they go to the laundrymat. Without these two things society would stink. With the invention of these two machines came laundry detergent which cleans the clothes. So to me the washer and dryer is one of the best household luxuries.... read more

this past wednessday was Courtney's (my roommate from last year) birthday. So in celebration a bunch of us went out for dinner on friday night. We ate lots of food, and sang happy birthday to her. We all had a wonderful time. We ate Chilli's which is a favorite of some of us. And chilli's is definitely a coorporation which is something we have discussed in class lately. It is part of a chain of restaurants that are located all over the country. There are good things and bad things about chains (like thier are for everything realted to industry). For example there is no personal connection to the owner, like thier might be at a family owned and run dinner, however becuse they are a chain chilli's is able to provide lots of food cheaply. ... read more

hello! Well as the usual, I logged onto my computer and went to google to search for random things like many people do when they are bored and I then started thinking about google earth. I think this is crazy! When I was home on spring break, I went on my dad's computer and went on google earth. About 2 years ago, we built a new house pretty much right behind our old house which was kind of weird but besides the fact, since our new street does not really come up on maps or anything, I decided to google earth our new house. To my amazement there was a picture of our house. It has not been updated since the building of our house but I still think it is insane, that a satellite can ... read more

mommy went for her third chemo treatment today. thank God it's only stage two breast cancer...not as good as it'd be if it were stage one, but it's better than three or four. thank God there is so much advancement in medicine today. i feel bad for all those families...all those people...i can't imagine what they must have went through upon hearing the word 'cancer.' now you hear that word, and it's dreadful, but there's a lot that can be done. so many miracle stories. so much to hope for. so much support for research in finding cures. some treatments are the scariest experiences patients may have to come across...like a mastectomy for instance. amazing doctors out there who can perform 9-hour surgeries for patients to increase their chances of living a normal life...a long life ... read more

I love Thursdays. I only have one class, and then I have the rest of the day to do WHATEVER I WANT!!! Well, ok, I'm not COMPLETELY free because I'm a little insane about being productive ALLLLL THE TIMMEE so I usually spend the day doing laundry or homework or....buying knock-off purses like I did today :-) But anyway, after enjoying the sunshine and a little fake designer bag shopping with my friend Natalie it was off to work. I was SOOO determined to get those After the Fact sources finished today...or at least most of them. And I did a good job because I really did a lot. But ALLLL day while I was doing them I was just thinking about how tonight the OC was going to be on (that's the other reason why ... read more

Over the past week two different professors of mine have devoted a good portion of our class to talk about Global Warming. I think the most recent Time Magazine devoted the cover and a huge article talking about how serious Global Warming. One the cover of the magazine was the title "Global Warming: Be Worried. Be Very Worried.". Some people might think that this title is a little extreme, but I cannot agree more with it. The article makes notice to many strange weather changes that are occurring all over the world. For example, Australia has recently been hit with winds over 120 miles and hour, there have been 300 different species of frogs that died, the Yukon has been experiencing forest fire and polar bears have been drowning due to the lack of icebergs. ... read more

The graduate theater here at Villanova is doing the musical, Urinetown, and I went to see it tonight. It was absolutely hysterical, and so well directed (by Father Peter, our future president!). The play takes place in a town with a water shortage and a strict government run by a money hungry dictator and his montage f side kick men. The police regulate the town so that no one is able to pee unless they pay money for public rest rooms. It sounds like a ridiculous premise, and it is, but the musical plays on that, and has a narrator who is a police man who explains everything in simple terms to a little girl in the musical, such as "this is the scene where the hero of the story falls in love with the heroin," ... read more
