Everything, except for food, water and ice and the bike, is packed into my Xterra ready for transport. Charged the camera, phone, tablet last nite. Tablet not working correctly and I am undecided as to if I should take it with or send back to the manufacturer today. Forecast is for rain Friday night and Saturday morning, but if I made all my plans based on the National Weather Service forecasts, I would only have done about one-quarter of the things I have done in weather that ultimately turned out to be beautiful, when otherwise forecast as miserable. I have sooo much food packed, clothing for all types of weather and lots of tools. Leap-frogging the vehicles will be a pain, but this will be a great adventure...so the trials and tribulations will be worth the ... read more

... read more

Evangel "Adventure" Ride To Duluth and the North Shore Eighteen motorcycle riders representing 12 bikes ranging from HD, BMW's, Honda GoldWings and Shadows to Kawasakis participated in the 2nd Annual EAG Motorcycle Adventure. Our route took us from Bismarck to Duluth's North Shore, International Falls, Warroad and finally home to Bismarck. Four days and over 1,200 miles. It’s always amazing to see how easy friendships form when riders gather. What a great group we had this year and I am excited to ride with these great men and women in the future. The annual trip is fast becoming an event that EAG motorcyclists are anticipating. Taking part in the EAG Adventure this year were: Cal and Carla Bender, Trent and Kari Christianson, Pastor Roger and Eide Will, Bruce and Sharon Walth, Jon Patch and his daughter ... read more

Good morning fellow motorcycle riders and those who love to travel via my Travel Blog... For the past year I have been planning a motorcycle "adventure" ride to Nova Scotia. Many of you followed my 6,000 mile ride in 2008 riding from North Dakota to Alaska via the Alaskan Highway and returning via a ferry from Alaska to Washington. I completed that trip on my 2005 Honda Goldwing but due to some back problems, I had to switch to a lighter bike. The 2005 BMW R1200RT is my motorcycle of choice and allows me flexibility to travel in some "off road" conditions. This adventure will be just as exciting and I wanted to give you advance notice so that when you start to see email traffic arrive on your computer that you don't delete because you ... read more

Rob Keller wrote...The joy of this motorcycle trip was not in putting it together, but in watching the faces of those bikers who went on this trip. Whether it was conquering a certain fear, fulfilling a dream, being part of a team, capturing Kodak moments, creating memories for your daughter, sharing your faith, getting away from the job, or just not having to plan anything but ride...all had their highlights. I've asked them to put their thoughts into words and let us know what they were thinking. I think you will enjoy them. Guys, it was a pleasure to be the "road captain" on this ride. Start speading the news that next year the Duluth and North Shore of Lake Superior beckons. Jeff Roper wrote... "It never ceases to amaze me the insights received from one ... read more

The change in weather this Memorial Day has caused us to alter our plans a little. Rather than leaving Monday morning, we are going to drive to Fergus Falls, MN Sunday afternoon to beat a rain system that is coming our way later Sunday and Monday. On Monday, we will head toward Mankato for a desination that is near and dear to Grace's heart. She will write about it more later. Our sweet next-door neighbor dropped by with a very nice card which contained a $100 bill! What a great send-off!... read more

In two weeks, Grace and I hit the trail -- that is I-94 toward Chicago. Last minute preparations are being made. A fresh coat of wax on the bike and a list of "things to do" and "what to bring" is mounting. Hope you stay tuned by logging on and catching up on what is happening on Route 66. Steve and Grace will try and keep you posted. ... read more

It's two months until Grace and I get on the Kawasaki 1600 Nomad and head East on I-94 to Chicago where we will get on Route 66. We leave on Memorial Day and we hope for warmer weather than last Memorial Day when it was 36 degrees! Steph will be staying with Grandma Katie and Grandpa Les in Minot or here at home with her sister Tori. This is a trip we've planned for several months and we really have the itch to do it. Our plan is to have as little plan as possible -- to ride a few hours and find a motel or see some sights. We've never traveled the southwest, especially on motorcycle so this will be a real adventure. The total trip will be slightly over 5,000 miles and will go ... read more
