Thousands Islands constitutes an Archipelago of 1864 Islands, that straddles the Canadian-US border in the Saint Lawrence River,as it emerges from the Northeast corner of Lake Ontario. We really don't have a lot to say about our three-long-day forced march northeast from Paris to Redwood. (you have no idea how much I enjoy just writing "Paris to Redwood") We rigged-up one last time at the "North Paris RV Park", girded our loins for the trip, and headed out. Sixty or so miles of US 82 brought us to I 30, and then the long Interstate grind homeward. It had been warm in Paris, warmer than Santa Fe for sure, I guess being some 5400' lower would have a lot to do with that. It quickly climbed up into the upper 80's as we drove, and we soon had the AC on. We slowly headed to the northeast, and then Texas gave way to Arkansas. We passed the town of Hope, but did not ... read more

Unwilling to be tied down to where exactly we would be, I poo poo'd it with 'I'm sure we'll get in somewhere. They can't ALL be full.' This presented Spencer with a number of opportunities.... First his predictions of doom would come true; second it would be a crisis to overcome and third (but by no means least) I would be proven wrong and the words 'I told you so' could be thought (but never actually articulated, of course). We were heading for the St Lawrence River which feeds in to the top of Lake Ontario. We found a state campsite (always our preference), Keewaydin State Park, ... read more

18 July, 2013 Cindy and Alex picked us up a little before 10 this morning and we went to their boat docked in Alex Bay. This was our first glimpse of the St. Lawrence River and the Thousand Islands area. It is absolutely gorgeous there. We rode out into the river moving between the American and the Canadian side. You have to have a chart to know the difference or the years of experience on these waters that they have. We skimmed along downriver for a few miles, then saw a familiar-looking trawler anchored. As we got closer and Alex slowed down we could see our friends Rob and Sue waving at us. We met them in the Keys, too, same as Cindy and Alex. Rob, Alex and Kerry played softball together and Sue, Cindy and ... read more

Here is the link to our tracking device we will use this year. Once on the trail (start 1 May) we will update our position twice daily at a minimum. Lunch time and at the end of the day. We will also update at state lines and such. http://share.findmespot.com/shared/gogl.jsp?glId=0GzkzKZdmy7ngYeKQAlt24bTBTBUIKFmd Just copy the above and paste it to the address bar, then off you go. I find the "Hybrid" view best, shows the satellite photo with the names of things pasted on top. We have all the 14 food resupply boxes packed, transportation to and from the trail set up. Now time to do the final check of all the rest of our gear and visit with friends and family for the last few days at home. Thanks to all the subscribers for following along our ... read more
