Manhattan Staten Island, also known as Richmond County, is one of New York City's five boroughs. The other four are Manhattan, Queens, Bronx and Brooklyn. It is the southernmost borough, just a 25-minute ride from lower Manhattan on the famous Staten Island Ferry. Today we left on our big adventure! We car pooled to the train station at 5am. Our train was to leave at 5:47 am. It was a COMPLETELY full train. Since we did not sleep much the night prior, we slept as much as possible. We arrived late to Penn Station (to be expected by Amtrak). We left Penn Station with out 40+ pound packs on and another backpack on our front sides. We walked from 34th to 28th, unnecessarily. A couple New Yorkers wished us a good hike. LOL. First Time Riding the NY Subway! As early as 6:30am, my cousin, Sheila and I headed out of Midtown Manhattan for a day at Liberty Island and Ellis Island. We took the subway and ofcourse, I was excited to finally see for myself what people say is a confusing labyrinth of tunnels under Manhattan.
