Montana is our favorite state!! First night was in Gardiner. Stayed at a sweet studio along the Yellowstone river just outside the park. Beautiful view from the riverdeck. The next2 nights we stayed in Coram just outside of Glacier national Park. Our favorite park! Breathtaking scenery. We could only drive 15 miles into the park because of the snow ) avalanches. We will definitely be back! We visited 4 of the 6 local breweries. Our favorite was Flathead Brewery in BigFork. All were unique. We stayed at cozy cabin 2 miles from the Park. Better pics to follow when I have to download them. ... read more

Le scotch goûte le vent – Bernard Adamus I am proud of myself, especially in the last few days. I have found a rhythm that makes travelling like I do an almost sane thing to do. 50 to 60 miles on the first day, next day of hiking, visiting and meditation. And then we do it again. It gives me the time to both recuperate and enjoy the scenery, while covering the ground I want to cover. I also found out that the earlier I start my day, the less important hurrying becomes. I can stop in that cute town or take a nap or whatever; I know I will make it before the sun sets. Of course it depends on the type of road I have to face and the weather, but I like to ... read more

A few minutes south of Whitefish is the turn off to Columbia Falls, directly east on Montana Highway 40. (You can also go straight south to Kalispell, but that’ll be a discussion for another time.) After my friend, Shannan (again, mentioned often in previous blogs), moved from Eureka, her family moved to Columbia Falls. We had so much fun there, but mostly just “being”. But other than just “being”, the Columbia Falls’ Chamber of Commerce’s website list some other fun things that you can actually do there are: Celebrate Heritage Daysthe last weekend in July (rodeo, parade, craft fair, car show Hike Columbia Mountain Golfing ( Meadow Lake Resort and u... read more

Previously on this blog... I think that when we last left you the Trans-Canada highway had been closed after an accident, so we were spending an extra day in Revelstoke, soaking up the sun (and a couple of cans of lager). Anyway, we eventually resumed our journey to Banff National Park, stopping en route at Wapta Falls in the Yoho National Park. We finally made it to Lake Louise late afternoon (don’t get me started about the roadworks on the Trans Canada Highway on a Saturday in peak holiday season, that caused a 45 minute hold-up to our journey... ), and got the last available pitch in the campground (allegedly...). Sunday morning we made an early start, so that we could get to Moraine Lake before the crowds. Little did we know that there was a ... read more
