Chasing the race. Up and out around 7am this morning. We had to make our way from Gunn Park back to highway 54. A slight misdirection quickly rectified only added about 1km to our riders journey. We were only 6 kms from the Missouri border and glad to be leaving the flat lands of Kansas. At the border were we stopped for photos there were a number of RAAM support vehicles. Of note there was Maria Parker who holds a number of world endurance records for cycling. Maria was off the bike to support some other riders who were about to come through. This was not officially part of the RAAM Race (I don't think). It was called Heroes on Wheels. The race was over the same course and was a being done by a team ... read more

Hey! Been a loooooooooong time since I posted on here. For future reference, our updated photos will be on facebook. If you are not on facebook and would like to see recent photos, just sent me an email and I will send you a link, kind of like it was here on travelblog. Spring has sprung here in the Ozarks! The trees are budding out, the daffodils are blooming, and the grass is getting tufts that are great for hiding Easter eggs. Lenin and I have been building a walkway out of rocks between our casita and the parent's house. We just got our fishing licenses yesterday and I predict that we'll be spending lots of hours at HaHaTonka state park with poles in our hands. Helllllllllloooooo from cold mid Missouri! Lenin and I had an eventful and good trip back. We arrived late afternoon last Wednesday, 26 January, and Dad was there to pick us up in St. Louis. He promptly informed us that we would be stopping at "hole in the wall BBQ place" which was delicious. We had fun looking at the various stuffed animals throughout the restaurant. We arrived home to somewhat agreeable weather conditions with late afternoons being in the upper 40's and 50's. However, today at about 2 am we heard rain coming down and by the time Lenin's father called and woke us up at 6 the snow was coming down! We promptly rolled back over and went back to sleep.
