East Lansing was good to us. Union crew was pretty decent, know what was going on and eager to help- always good. Everything went pretty well. The man who focused the lights was called Jim, and I thought he was calling me “Sir” all day, but turns out he was calling me “Sarah.” (I didn’t figure this out until load out when we said “Sarah” while she was with me.) That was really the only funny thing. When I was micing the kids for the show, Kyle and I both started putting random extra pieces of tape on Stella’s face, then [View Full Entry]

Well, after almost two weeks with my parents, I'm on the move again, currently in the Detroit airport. My plane to Manila leaves in three hours, with one stop in Tokyo. I'm sitting in front of the gate for a flight going to Paris because that's the only place I could find a free outlet. We laptop people fight over them. Across from me are two orange-clad monks eating hamburgers. They'll have fun in Paris. [View Full Entry]

Whew! If we thought getting into Cnada was an adventure, coming home to the US was worse!!! After being harassed a bit byt the customs official, though, we made it back into our home country. Funny that you can leave so easily, but you can't come back! We drove across the small portion of Ontario that borders a couple of the Great Lakes and exited into Detroit, Michigan. We went over the Greenfield Village to check it out while we were there. It's a village (as well as a museum and factory) built by Henry Ford. He collected building and brought [View Full Entry]

After 30+ hours of flying and layovers we arrived in Detroit. The last flight (a red eye from LA to DTW) was the 15th we had taken on our trip and the 1st one where we lost a bag. OK, not lost but delayed. Somehow 2 of our bags made our flight and the 3rd decided it wanted to stay on the road a bit longer and hitched a ride to Minneapolis first. It was an amazing trip and I hope that our pictures and descriptions at least gave a small window into what we saw and did. Now that we [View Full Entry]

Woke up to a heavy 85 degrees this morning and had some wonderful coffee at the IPM studios (In Perpetual Motion). While the crew gathered themselves Brian worked on an oil leak at a fitting tword the back of the bus. After he was finished we hit the streets looking for Vegoil. I was amazed at the stillness of the city. It is now 97 degrees and also a Sunday so I suppose it shouldn't be a surprise. We tried about 10 places and had moderate luck. It was, however enough to get us to Pittsburgh (two nights away) hopefully. [View Full Entry]

day 2 Christoph Hall Word of the day: Pannis Beverage of the Eve: Rolling Rock *Chicago* After the show last night we at a friend of Martins house (Pat). Parking was difficult so Brian and I stayed in the bus and the others slept in Pat's apartment. We slept for about 5 hours and went to breakfast (Denver omelet and pancakes) at the Hollywood Cafe before making a halfhearted attempt to find more oil. The pressure is holding at a pretty steady 60 psi (perfect) and there is a bit of oil still in the tank so we should ge [View Full Entry]

Over the course of this solo trip throughout Mexico/Central America I'll do my best to document my thoughts and observations as best as possible!! Why travel solo you might ask? [View Full Entry]

In the mall, I saw a souvenir shop of T-shirts that had these on: "Be good to me. I have friends in Detroit." "I'm tough. I vacationed in Detroit." These struck me. What's with Detroit? ... ummm, aside from the fact that Eminem is a Detroit native. Well, a city of angst? Stevie Wonder also came from Detroit, but he's classy. Detroit must be a city full of variety and history. So here goes my impression of Downtown Detroit, plus a thrilling experience while walking downtown. Read on. It was a pretty uneventful plane ride to Detroit. Detroit is the most beautiful airport I have ever seen. It had some interesting dynamic art installations in the tunnels between terminals. Everything looked modern and clean. Layover was about 2 hours so we grabbed some "Deep Dish" pizza, and picked up some amenities for the trip at the Duty Free -A bottle of Johnnie Walker Black and some Jaegermeister. [View Full Entry]
