This is the last entry on our trip in the southwest HIGHPOINTING One of the things we are trying to do as we travel, is climb the highest point in every state. On our way west, in Kansas, we got to Mt Sunflower(4,039) . In Colorado, we tried to climb Mt. Elbert, (14,433) but did not make it all the way, we did about 12,000 feet. Picture are located in OUR GALLEY “It is the journey, not the destination.” In New Mexico we drove to Mt. Wheeler (13,161), the highpoint, but due to lots of snow we viewed it from afar. We did climb Black Mesa (4,973) in OK and the highpoint in Missouri, Taum Sauk Mt (1,772 ft. We also got to the highpoint in Indiana, Hoosier Highpoint ( 1,257 ft) To learn more about ... read more

November 4, Thursday. Drove across Illinois and Indiana, We stopped in Richmond, Indiana, where we visited one of the second largest RV center for sales, in the country and talked to them about the Bothan. They were interested, but they wanted to trade us for a newer or bigger model. We continued to the high point right outside of Indiana in Richmond. It was on private property; it was sort of interesting in that there was no marker, just a couple road signs saying it was the high point of Indiana. We found a campground nearby and spent the night. November 5, Friday Ohio Our attempts to get to the Ohio highpoint were thwarted. Since it is located on school grounds and this is Saturday, we doubt if permission will be available. November 6, Saturday Pittsburgh, ... read more

Wow. Goddamn. That was the single best sporting event I have ever seen. Everything pales in comparison. Way too much to tell, not enough words to describe just how unbelievable that was. So I'll just give some quick notes. 1. During yesterday’s game I actually sat in the first row right under the basket. 2. Players like Pau Gasol and Baron Davis kept looking over at me. Me and a couple of guys I met were cheering really loud for the Kiwis and for the guy playing against Vlade Divac. And after one big play for Yugoslavia, Vlade came down the court and stared me down. The Yugoslavian fans did not like it when I was shouting about how inconsequential Divac was. 3. It was so cool because there were so many really knowledge b-ball fans ... read more

A roadtrip to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN, to attend the fraternity regional/Panhel 2002. Meeting up with our fraternity brothers from Wisconsin, Michigan State, and Wabash. Wabash College is all male college, and around 95% of the student population is associated with ten national fraternities. In order to dig more chicks in (which they are good to begin with), they created the Panhel event, which imitates the Panhellenic, the sorority association. Long story short, this is when the whole campus is wet, all students are basically drunk for a whole week, many are hauling kegs to classes and parties. I guess we are fortunate enough to taste the tradition of Wabash College.... read more

Leaving our hotel we headed off for our 4th state Indiana - a Bible state. We had intended to visit more relatives and began to wonder if that was really a good idea but at this stage we couldnt change our plans. We drove towards Indianapolis through more and more dull and disinteresting scenery. On the way we thought we needed to stop for a coffee to break our journey. We saw what looked like a nice 50' s style diner and parked the car. Inside the tables were spread out and laid neatly with red and white gingham tableclothes. The waitress behind the counter was polite and friendly and we ordered a couple of coffees and found a quiet table in the corner. What is it about being in a foreign country that makes you ... read more
