An adventure already! After crossing into Indiana the heavy wind gusts have caused us to take a 3 hour detour & delay. With the start time crunch & route uncertainty, due to winter weather advisories across the country, we were able to only get an oil change, yesterday. No time for the alignment, rotation & balancing. This brings us to Evansville's Best One Tire & the lovely Grand Traverse Pie Company, while we wait. The gentleman softly announces 'The Duuude, your meal with ready', as soothing and sultry as Marvin Gaye. Beyond the delicious soup and specialty sandwich, I must admit, the warm slices of pie and smooth coffee is quite a beyond worthy substitute for Louisville's Homemade Ice Cream & Pie Kitchen. Amid the cozy fireplace, we talk of adventure and Brian peruses the '1,000 ... read more

Happy Holidays Everybody!!! I returned to the US a little over a week ago. The flight was long and uneventful. I couldn't believe how cold it was when I landed. There was snow on the ground and I was wearing flip flops. Of course, my thoughtful husband met at the luggage area with shoes and a winter coat. Like promised, I also got my cheeseburger and fries that night. Sean is 100% healthy and I almost didn't recognize him at the airport. We have both been working out so as not to succumb the weight the Midwest and holiday season are trying to put on us. We had been staying with Sean's parents for the past week and loving all of the time together. Erika and Andre and their baby Charlotte were there too! Charlotte is ... read more

Finally I get to see Tom's birthplace. Now I know why he was so quiet about it. Definitely middleclass. Beautiful neighborhood, unchanged in 40 years, overlooks the Ohio River. Spent evenings watching High School Football. Tom was nostalgic over his H.S. quarterback days. Says he didn't have the cheerleaders chasing after him. Yeh, right. Onto Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, MS. Found someone who grew up poorer than me. Capped the summer off by visiting the Shiloh, Tn and Vicksburg, MS battlefields. The more Civil War history we learn, the curiousor we get. Off to Texas from here! Have reacquainted ourselves with people we've met along the road...Nurse, survivor of Vietnamese prison camps for religious persecution, copyeditor working on the road. Life is still good. ... read more

Hello Everyone! Well, I have managed to get all my ducks in a row. I have my passport, visa, vaccinations, a purse that can't be slit with a razor blade, thermal underwear, lots of scarves, and some nice warm sweaters. All that's left is to fly around the globe and make a home on the other side of the planet. Wish me luck! I love you all! Love, Meagan... read more

Pictures Galore!!! North America » United States » Indiana » Evansville By cubsvssoxJuly 11th 2007Rachel & Sean Hey Folks, Sean and I are now in Evansville preparing for the last of the wedding celebrations, finalizing plans for our trip and relaxing. We spent the past week celebrating the birth of Charlotte Grace in Long Beach. She is healthy, home and unbelievably beautiful. Erika and Andre are ecstatic. We stayed at Maggie's house in Huntington Beach, where it is cool to carry around a parrot that may or may not be pooping down your back all day. On t... read more
