Today we leave McKinney Campground headed to Alaska. Making the trip are Aleta and myself, Jack and Barbara, along with Ted and Jeri. Had plans to meet up early and caravan to St. Marion, IL, but plans have ways of changing. Met up with Ted and Jeri at rest area at exit 158 on I24. We all met at Flying J at exit 86 and gassed up. Campgrounds at St Marion all full. Tried Walmart, but it is blocked for RVs and trucks. Found sites at Old Bates RV Park 33 miles back. Made that trip to our sites - - $27.00 per night. 5/1/2012 - Murfreesboro, TN to Acworth, GA. Got up early this morning, around 6am. Slept hard, but a little hot at Wal-Marts. Shelby's back so bad this am had to take some Tylenol, not a good sign. Ready to get home and rest a little. Had the motorhome washed at Exit 318 on I75. Like stop here for washes as it is just north of home and they usually do a good job. The two guys that washed this time did a very thorough job. Cost was $51.00. The "redneck Mexican" did good again. If you stop here, just ask for the "redneck Mexican" tell him Taylor sent you :-). We are now in Bartow County, we feel we are home when we cross that line....getting back home on Tyler Taylor's (grandson) birthday. OK, WE ARE ... read more

As we make our last minute preparations to depart on our first extended travel adventure, reality kicks in, we will not make our 10:00 A.M. departure. After getting all of the last minute items (that we think we could ever need) we depart Acworth, Ga. about 4 hrs. later than planned. We are supposed to meet Leta and Shelby, who have been in Louisiana for family reunions, in Olive Branch, Ms. for dinner. Oh well! Late dinner is better than no dinner.
