10-30-12 Sandy still here, high wind advisory, raining, 40. We stayed inside today, played 8 games of marbles and watched some TV. Sandy has arrived. Cold 41, rainy, and windy. Were supposed to leave today, but decided not to fight the high winds. Instead, we went to watch them make cheese at Heini's Cheese Chalet and Factory. They were making lacey baby swiss, cheddar, & yogart cheese. We timed our visit perfectly to catch all steps in the process. Afterwards, we tasted all of the different flavors of cheese and some sausage. No need for lunch today. Headed to Walnut Creek to watch the candy making at Coblentz Chocolate Factory. No samples here, so we had to buy our own. By the way, we bought some cheese at Heini's also. Been driving by Boyd and Wurthmann Restaurant for several days. 10-28-12 This morning we head to New Philadelphia for church. They had a guest speaker from Albania, Taulant Kreci. The service was a bit different since Taulant spoke Albanian, and Jeff interpreted. After lunch at Bob Evans, we head to Dover to see the Warther Museum. Our guide at the museum was Jim Nixon, a retired History/Government teacher form Dover H. S., who said he thought he remembered the name Greg Adkins, and the Burris family. He was very knowledgeable about the museum and an interesting speaker. Ernest "Mooney" Warther supported his family making knives not only for carving but also kitchen knives. He was a steam engine enthusiast, and decided he would tell the history of the steam engine through wood carvings.... read more

10-24-12 Today we go to Orville to visit the Smuckers Store. Could not believe that they do not have tours of the Smucker facilities. Guess they just want you to buy stuff from their store and move on down the road,,,so we did to P.Graham Dunn Arts and Crafts Store, and Lehman's Hardware. Had dinner at Amish Door Restaurant. The meat was broasted chicken, which looked and tasted a lot like fried chicken. 10-25-12 Headed to Berlin to Sol's Arts and Crafts Store. Worked up an appetite so we headed to Miller's Bakery where we had donuts and coffee/coke. Bought a blueberrry pie for dessert for the next few nights.
