We spent the last 10 days in Apopka, Florida at a really nice KOA, visiting local family Mom, Dad, Julie and Tim. It was a time to get off the road, catch up on laundry, shopping and most importantly all the family news. The weather in Florida was a bit cool, (especially for the Florida folks) but after Charleston it was still really nice for us!!! Seeing family is always the best of times and so far this trip we've seen our Ohio, Maine, Boston, DC, Georgia, and Florida family. Hopefully, this week we'll see our NC family as well. I guess you could say we have a modern family spread far and wide...so unfortunately we only get to see them at best once a year. The northern folks we saw this summer/fall and the southern ... read more

After leaving Tennessee we travelled south and east to Tupelo, Mississippi where once more we meet up with Rosemary and Richard for the night. We drove a little of the Natshez Trace before leaving the next morning for Heflin, Alabama for just one night. The next day finds us in Greensboro Georgia, which is in between Atlanta and Augusta. This is a small place on a lake quite pretty, we toured the town and stocked up on supplies. That night was interesting as they held a Texas Hold'em Poker Game, the buy in was $10.00 so I went and was back home in an hour having the great distinction of being the first one out. The people in the area are very nice but the accent is so strong we had a hard time understanding them ... read more

So....when Im bored at work, I go through this site and read blogs that interest me. Truth be told, almost all of them interest me. Colorful pictures, faraway lands, cultures that define our diverse world....and then there's me....sitting in a dusty, murky, gray cubicle. In an office. With no windows. True, I have traveled to many places and have been forturnate enough to have seen a few places....but....its not enough. I get on websites all the time....mainly websites that focus on voluntorism. Lately, my new obsession seems to be Honduras. I found a project where you go down there for a week and build houses. A week out of the ordinary. A week away from the ordinary. No cubes, no pantyhose, no makeup...simply, just me, doing what I do best...meeting people, making a difference, making some ... read more

February 25, Wednesday We rode down I-4 to Disney World, and began our magical time in Magic Kingdom. This was a great park, lots of fun even for adults, and we rode every ride with very little waiting time. They have instituted a Fast Pass system, where you can insert your park pass, get a ticket for a later time, and when you return, you go through a different line which gets you right to the front very quickly. Much better than standing in line for an hour, and from Disney's point of view, it gives you more time to wander through the many gift shops and buy food at the vendors. We had a great time together, and even got into the park without having to pay the $12 parking fee. On the return ride, ... read more

We are all officially on vacation now. MIdori and I have spent the last few days attempting to pack light and eating lots to bulk up before heading off. The eating lots is one of my favorite aspects of travel. We are all planning on taking 2500 cu inch packs which requires planning on exactly what is necessary and what we can do without.. necessary takes on different meanings to different people. I started to buy Ayn Rand's classic 900 page novel "Atlas Shrugged", but decided it was way to massive to haul all over the place. So we bought "Costa Rican Spanish" instead. I went dumpster diving at the mattress factory and found some perfect reinforced plastic that I cut into 6x8 chunks to use for tarps in case we have to pull up ... read more
