blog 02-12-18 Is the Rain Liquid Sunshine It is my opinion that all incompedent meteroligists reside in Florida. There has not been one day since I have been here that the weather turned out the way they called it. Yesterday was supposed to be rainy and warm, it was sunny and hot. Today was supposed to be hot and sunny, it's cold and foggy. Not complaining just stating fact. One must learn to be flexable. Marg and I had coffee outside this morning in the brilliant sunshine. Finally took a picture of the campsite. A little girl from Ohio came over to play with Watson this morning and had fun petting him and throwing his ball. She has a dog at home and misses him so Watson had a playmate for a while. She made the ... read more

blog 02/08/18 Blast off-Beach Day-St Augustine The last few days have been busy ones. On Monday I went up to Jacksonville airport and picked up Margi who will be staying for several days. It was an easy trip and before long she was in the car and we were jabbering away on our way back to Flagler. Today is the launch day for the Falcon Heavy rocket from Cape Canaveral and I was sure hoping for a delay in the launch time so we could see it. We got back to the campground at 3:15 and the launch time was delayed from 1:30 to 3:45 so we scurred to the campsite, got camera gear and went to the ocean observation platform right across the campground road from me. There were 6 people there waiting and watching ... read more

blog 02-05-18 Settling In Watson and I took a long walk yesterday, up the beach campground road, across A1A, through the jungle, along the boat inlet, then checking out the Intercoastal Waterway. Along the way we met 2 women taking a bird censis, part of a state wide effort. They said they have found fewer of some species and more of another attributing it to warmer weather. Not an official conclusion just their opinion. We walked through the river side section of the park and it's campground, then back through the jungle and home to our campsite. I have not taken a picture of our site yet but will tomorrow so you can picture where I am. The afternoon was rainy so I spent the time cleaning and reorganizing the camper, which is an ongoing process. ... read more

Blog 02-02-18 Gamble Rogers State Park, Flagler Beach, FL I left home Jan 13th heading to sunny Florida hoping for warm weather. The ride south was uneventful but cold, having my in camper heater running all night to keep from freezing. I still had anti freeze in the water system of my camper so that was not a concern, just staying warm running to the bathroom. I stayed 2 weeks at Thousand Trails in Clermont with my camping girlies where we had fun catching up from last summer and going to the winery for music and wine on the lawn, twice, taking in a musical, visiting Bok Tower, enjoying a movie, playing bingo, going out to dinner and lunch, watching a launch, and just visiting with the other campers. Watson enjoyed seeing his furry friends again ... read more

Kayak Trip Thursday was a beautiful day in Florida. I know I keep saying that but the weather has been super. Our walk was on the other side of the park, the river side, where we went through the hammock to the lagoon. It was a delightful walk and back home I made myself a big breakfast because I needed lots of energy for the afternoon. I got to go on the kayak trip because they had to change the day because of high winds. Some people had to cancel and I got lucky. There were about 9 of us on the trip and we got a quick lesson on paddling a kayak and safety. We had to cross the Intercoastal Waterway to get into the estuary so we grouped up and paddled quickly. Sure glad ... read more

Happy Valentine's Day Again our day started with a beach walk and a little shell collecting. It was a beautiful day again and we took advantage of it. When we came back I decided to do a little cleaning up around the camper and even went to the dump station. It had been over a week since I emptied the holding tanks so it was definitely time. I dreaded disrupting camp but it went easily and in no time I was back and all settled in. I was on the wait list for the kayak trip on Wednesday and the office called me to ask if I was available Thursday because they had to cancel Wed because of high winds. I said I was and later found out that there was a cancellation so I am ... read more

Shannon's Birthday Sunday was a beautiful day in Florida. It dawned bright and sunny and the temperature continued to climb. It was 82 degrees in the height of the afternoon and the beach was calling. I did spend some time watching the waves and snapping the birds. I had happy hour with a friend from PA that is in my campground for one night. I was just wondering what to have for dinner when one of my neighbors came around the corner and handed me a plate full of fish fillets already cooked and steaming hot. Her husband caught the fish earlier and they handed them out to the neighbors. It was delicious.. Monday started with a walk on the beach, it's getting to be a routine now. Shannon's visit This entry covers 3 days of fun filled activities. I had to get up for sunrise this morning. I made it just in time to see the sun come up out of the ocean only to disappear in the clouds on the horizon. I did wait for it to reappear but it had lost it's magic. I took Watson down the road for a walk and he headed for the gate that leads to the beach. How could I deny him that pleasure. We walked a long way and he enjoyed the smells and air and seemed to dance on the sand. Back at camp, I had several chores to do but it was too beautiful a day to spend working. Made a sandwich again, grabbed my chair and water and Watson and I ... read more

blog 02-08-17 Photo Day I slept til 8:30 this morning and it sure felt good. After some cleaning and breakfast Watson and I went for a walk all over the park. We stopped at a friend's camper and chatted for a while then headed home. I got wash together but decided to spend some time on the beach, it was just beautiful. Watson was tired so I put him in the camper, got my chair, camera, a drink and a sandwich and headed out. There was a large flock of birds sitting on the beach so I headed for them and planted my chair not too far away. I started snapping and hardly had time for lunch. The sun kept going in and out so the exposure was tricky but I did get a few good ... read more

Blog 02-07-17 Dedie leaving We got up leisurely this morning and while I showered Dee took Watson for a run on the beach. He came back so full of wet sand he was banned from the camper for several hours. But he was a happy boy. Dee and I had a big breakfast then went to the river side of the campground to see a friend whose dog had been attacked by another campers 3 dogs. It seems that a neighbor just got 2 dogs from a shelter the day before and had all 3 dogs out on a chain. Seeing my friend's dog walk by was too much for them and they broke the chain and attacked. Thank goodness my friend didn't fall down in the mayhem or get bitten. Several people came to her ... read more
