We decided to stay in Condessa for a change from the Central Historical district of Mexico City. Condessa is a more bohemian environment with cafes, resturaunts and art galleries. We give the taxi driver the address of a resonably priced hotel and point ot it's location on a map. The driver drops us off at what we think is the hotel we asked for but it is actually Condessa DF which is three times as expensive as the one we asked for but we decide to stay possibly as we were confused by the big chocolate coloured dog that was manning or dogging (not right) the reception area. It turns out to be possibly the most stylish, tranquil and pleasant hotel that I have ever stayed in. Fresh modern clean lines, white walls and oak panneling ... read more

We scan the roof tops of Mexico citys historical district from a balcony near the roof of our hotel. It looks like an old European town with many domed church spires and ornatly carved decoration. A thick layer of dust covers the cobbeld, car and people jammed streets. Jewellery stores line the pavements. The main square has an ice rink and all the buildings surrounding it are drapped in festive tinsle and lights. I eat chicken enchiladas and am very suspicious that there is some pig derivative in the delicious refried beans. I am a fallen vegeterian, a sinner in the face of all the dead things I am eating. Everything comes with a sprinkle of ham. We track down a veggie resturaunt where a somber piano player frills and trills every note he plays. The ... read more

Arrived safe and sound with a fairly smooth ride all the way.... these hurricanes aren't that bad. Had a day to run around Mexico City and see some sights. It's a really nice city.....well the bits we saw were. We put up some photos to capture the highlights for me (as Sarita has been hit hard by the dreaded jet lag and has popped off to bed) which were a multitude of squirrels, markets and good food. But a city is a city so we're not hanging here long and have booked a bus to Oaxaca tomorrow. ... read more

... read more

After a beautiful bus ride through the mountains of Mexico I finally arrived into the giant monstrosity of a city referred to as Distrito Federal (D.F.- or Mexico City). I had no idea what to expect because I had heard so many things about the danger factor- violence, muggings and corruption. So I arrived at night as I was trying to find my cousin Michita´s place in barrio Colonial Santo Domigo. I entered the metro station and rode the train for about 45 minutes from the northern end of the city down to the southern section- just to give an idea of the shear size of the place. Once I got off the train, I must have walked a good 4 to 5 miles in the dark looking for Michita´s place as the house/apartment numbers went ... read more

Y va otro número del world wide famous Serviçâo do Informaçâo.
