Hi All! Arrived on Prince Edward Island yesterday afternoon. Had a great time in Nova Scotia, took a couple of days to get some things fixed! The cyclometer is now working, I completely repositioned the sender and receiver (it's wireless). For those of you that know the integrated rear wheel lock on the Koga Miyata, I found out how to remove it! It was heavier than the cable lock I was carrying so the Koga lock was jettisoned!!! And as for the MSR stove, turns out the store where I purchased it sold me the wrong fuel bottle, so I wasn't [View Full Entry]

Well we are now in PEI. Thursday I took it easy. I sat in second cup for 2 hrs enjoying an iced americano and searching for places to stay in PEI. Thursday night we went out again with Brett's work group. We went to a really nice Italian place and had a 4 course set menu for dinner. We than stayed out very late enjoying East Coast hospitality. To bad for Brett that Firday morning he still had to go to class for 8am. On fri I packed us up and picked up the rental car. We were driving out of [View Full Entry]

yummy!

So, jetzt kommt schon mein naechster Eintrag!

We left Maine in late June to begin our summer in Atlantic Canada. After washing the coach and car, we drove 2 days in intermittent rain to reach Prince Edward Island. Of course, we had to wash the vehicles all over again when we got here. The only way to drive to the island is over the 13-mile Confederation Bridge from New Brunswick. We were glad it wasn’t too foggy that day. PEI, the “Green Island,” is lush, with rolling hills and farmland. The population is around 135,000. Fishing, farming, and tourism are the main industries, with potato farms in abundance. [View Full Entry]

One quick note about Halifax before moving on to Cape Breton. There is a relatively large casino on the wharf in Halifax. We had to see the competition so went in. The floor plan/layout was the same as all other casinos we have seen, but very light and airy. That is because the entire wall facing the harbor was windows. Great views from a casino. They also don't stay open 24 hr. David went by the next morning around 10 AM while the computer was being worked on and they were closed. Certainly not the Las Vegas model. After leaving [View Full Entry]

PEI!! We love you!!! We arrived in PEI after cycling 81 kms to get to the ferry. We had planned to find a nice place to camp on the other side of the water in PEI and call it a day until we arrived there...it was warm, breeze-less, hill-less, green; it was absolutely amazing and had Brad and I wondering how a 70 minute ferry ride could bring us from a grey fisherman's land to lush green paradise!! We were so pumped we eneded up cycling another 36 km before arriving in Orwell. Orwell is a little historic town that [View Full Entry]

After the bus journey from Halifax to PEI, we've now decided that it's a rubbish way to travel and should not be encouraged. It had been cold in Halifax but we were still unprepared for snow the first evening in Charlottetown! And there wasn't even a cup of 'steeped tea' to be had to warm us up. Steeped tea by the way is the 'new' thing to have chez Tim Horton's (a cross between a healthy McDonalds and a baker's). In essence it's tea that has been left in the pot for too long but presumably is being sold in litres [View Full Entry]

Hey everyone! Welcome to my blog - this will be a short one. I'm half-way through my first year at Dalhousie Medical School. Its everything you would expect - interesting, intense, occassionally overwhelming, and much more! I completed my first elective in Anaesthesia and got to witness so many amazing surgeries - mostly heart surgeries, everything from quadruple bipasses to valve replacements, but also some cosmetic surgeries, including face lift, breast implant & reconstruction, eyelid lift/chin tuck and jaw reconstruction. All of these were way more invasive than I had expected, its amazing that people can recover and actually look better [View Full Entry]
