This time around I rented a Hummer H3 for the trip. Guess what it sucks in sand. Too heavy so sinks in easily and I somehow felt it was way too underpowered for all the hype we hear about them. I am sure all you Humvee dune bashers are raring to prove me wrong so guess what? Prove me wrong! All in all a good trip. Stopped for grub at Liwa Resthouse and nice photo ops. This experience proved quite exciting, somewhat terrifying (especially when Yuki drove) but certainly addicting. I am proud to say, I did not have to get help or dig the car out once! Anyway, the key to dune bashing, or at least what I learned thus far, is to keep your momentum to get over the dunes. Also, map out routes, because when you are about to go over a dune, you literally can not see over the other side.
