Hello Adam 😊

The basic vaccinations would be
Hepatitis A or a Hepatitis A and B combination
Typhoid which is available in injection or pill form
A polio booster if you have not had one already
Diphtheria and tetanus combination.
If you have not had measles mumps and rubella when you were a child u need to get an MMR vaccination.
If you have not had chicken pox as a child u need a vaccine for that. It is called Varicella.

You also need some malaria prevention medication for some of those countries. Check the World Health Organisation(WHO) website to find out which countries or regions you need them for.

A rabies vaccination could also be considered. It is not absolutely necessary but if you get bitten and dont have one you should quickly make your way to a hospital in countries where rabies is a risk. Even if you have had a rabies shot you will need more after you are bitten. Either way you have to get to a hospital if an animal bites you. Having had one of the shots before you travel will only give you more time to get to the hospital. Basically it is only really necessary if you are going to places with poor medical facilities.

Check the webside for the world health organisation to get more information about the vaccinations and the malaria prevention medication. It also gives specific information about the vaccinations in each country.

It's a good idea to get a yellow fever vaccination - there are many countries in south america that will require you to have proof of one with a certificate.

(In theory - I've never been asked for mine despite being in many YF zones) Reply to this
