Get up for the elderly
This is a sign posted on the tram wall. I thought it was interesting that you MUST get up for the elderly. Thank you and goodnight. Today, while I was traveling on the Metro, a man came up to me and seemingly offered to sell me a golden keychain. I shook my head "no". Soon however, it came to my knowledge that this man was no street hobo, rather, the traffic police asking to see my travelers pass. I was somewhat amused then quickly searched into my zippered bag to find my folded pass. I showed it to the man with no problem.
It is about 9:30pm on this lovely Saturday night and I am sitting in my bed in my lovely room here in Prague 4. Boy am I EXHAUSTED.
I just had a nice meal of homemade czech potato soup, concocted by the man of the house. It was simply DELICIOUS. It had mushrooms in it, which I pushed to the side of my plate, but the rest was just really good. A lot of people seem to be both curious and humored by my picky food tastes. For example, yesterday while my small group and czech buddy were eating at the big buffet place, they couldn't believe that I almost had a heart attack when one of the girls ate a raisin

very colorful stained glass windows found in the Prague Castle Church. and i ate only the top of my apple pie because 1, I am allergic to apples and 2 cooked apples are disgusty.
I ate the potato soup with my "Mom", Daniela and the man of the house, and I was the last one to finish- probably because I pick only certain things out of my dish, while they eat every morsel. The two lovely people pointed out good shopping places on my map to go to because I said I needed good walking shoes. My UGG boots just aren't cutting it. My left food actually looked swollen after last night- but last night is a whole other story.
I began my day yesterday at 8AM. It ended at 4:00AM the next morning. We met at Vyscherad, my metro stop for the school and I was about 12 minutes late. Firstly, I should try my best not to be late because we have been told that the professors can not tolerate lateness. As I was rushing, I saw the familiar Denise (mentioned previously in the former blog and referred sometimes as "the american") also walking into school at the same time. It was pretty hilar. We greeted each

After the different information sessions, we met with our czech buddies, mine today was Katie, and then we went to lunch. The people in my group were Bret (the czech buddy the first day kept calling him Bert which I thought was funny), Talia, Katie a girl, Jackie (the girl who got stuck in an unfortunate homestay, where she sleeps in the four year old girls play room/the family laundry room), and I forget the other girls name.
Initially, we made our way to a local czech restaurant where I ordered friend cheese and czech potatoes. Now one may think that I would soon be eating mozzarella sticks, but it was something very different. On my plate came one rice-ball like ball that was like a volcano of cheese some melted, some flowing. The potatoes were also delicious. I ordered a cocoa cola light and CIEE paid for our lunches.
Then, Katie was able to take us anywhere in Prague, and she brought us to the area surrounding the Prague Castle. It was really pretty, especially the big church with high ceilings. The stain glass windows were also extravagant,
The Banquet Hall.
The place with great food where all the students ate dinner. There was two people playing instruments. Notice Maoira looking at the camera in the far end. especially because they stood out against the dull colored marble. After, our group went to a cafe where everyone ordered hot tea. I personally ordered water because I was simply very thirsty and craving water. The whole CIEE program had dinner together at a buffet hall and then the fun began. Now mother, I know you said fun can only be had in moderation, but it is just (in a british accent) so darn fun!
We went to this amazing dance club with a great DJ who played amazing music that was fun to sing to. We saw lots of other CIEE students and had a blast.
Long short, four of us went to go home at about 2AM. However, the metro to get back home stops at 12 and we could not find the bus we needed. It was pouring and after hours of walking, we finally found bus 504. Molly and Alice took the 509 and Maoira and I took the 504. After Maoira and I got off the 504, we got lost again and that is why I did not arrive home until 4AM. No worries however, no worries.
Tonight, after a fun day

Questionable. with my new friends, I talked to my dad via his cell phone on the phone. It was nice to hear his voice. My host parents and I spoke for some time, talked about favorite foods, movies and then the man of the house made us all dry martinis. Now I know why dehydration runs rampant through the streets of Prague... JUST KIDDING!
Funny: I asked my host mother if she plays games (meaning like scrabble etc.) and she was like "children play games". It was funnnnnnny.
Funny: While at the cafe today, Maoira and I both ordered vanilla milkshakes. The waiter brings out everyone else's order including a czech biscuit for Liz, a banana pancake for Molly and Alice and two expressos. Then we saw these two shot glasses of water and we were all really confused what it was and Maoira was like "Maybe that is the milkshake." We came to find out that it was simply a small glass of water to go along with the expresso. HAHA HOHO.
Bret's three inventions: A concert on the moon, a texting only phone, and I forget the other one dang it.
Ok I must go to
HOMESTAY kids.
Of course we bonded over the fact that we live with non-english speaking people- then we became friends. What? sleep and do other things of that nature. I am meeting the homestay girls at the metro at 11:30AM for some SHOPPING.
LOVE YOU GOODNIGHT.
