FAMU
This lovely image is from the school of FILM which I will soon be studying. Ahoj! (HELLO) Right this moment, I occupy a seat in the country of the Czech Republic- more specifically, the land of Prague- home to the Saber Toothed Tiger lady, who only appears in public twice every seventeen years, and three times if dumplings are presented to her in a easy-to-access fashion.
In real tone, I am in Prague, on day two, and it is everything I hoped for, and more. I arrived to the country yesterday with my good, I repeat good, friend Denise. Unfortunately the two of us did not share seating close to one another on the 6 hour flight from Newark to London but fortunately, the bathroom was close in close distance and I was on an end seat. The young couple sitting next to me slept the whole time, which created envy in my mind. I was quite uncomfortable and if my legs/thighs were not hurting, my arms were. But aside from that, we made it to London quite nicely.
These two travelers from the United States, Denise and myself, were thoroughly aware of the chance that we may miss our flight because we only had one hour and fifteen minutes between flights. Also, Denise's
Me smiling my first night in House
I give one thumb up because I was happy at that moment in my new house. Don't worry Mama, it will never replace the real house in Staten Island, NY. Your fears will not surface. brother, John, had the exact flight to Spain months prior and missed his change-over along with losing his luggage for two weeks. Can you possibly image?! No really, can you?
First the men who put the stairs by the plane door were missing in action, causing the two Americans (Denise and myself) to be put immediately behind schedule. Only the looks shared between us across the aisle would describe the worry we felt. I mouthed to her "we must rush" and she then proceeded to kick an elderly man in the kneecap. I was quite embarrassed for her because the man fell over, not before asking for a lifesavor. I think he was referring to a minty treat.
Denise exited the plane first and got on the bus to transfer terminals. Little did she know that it would soon fill up with people and I would be forced to get on the next one. This problem was solved rather quickly to say the least, when we met in the next terminal. However, what I believed to be terminal 1, was really a waiting place to GET to terminal one. Can you imagine? No really, can you?
I personally, I can NOT speak for Denise (I did once and it ended badly), I really thought we would miss our flight, and be stuck like vagabonds in the airport for more time than manageable. To make things just a little tiny bit worse, Denise's belt was lost for a brief time at the security checkpoint and we only had three minutes until the gate closed. "Should she sacrifice her belt?" I thought i my head." Which is worse, vagabonancy or a lost belt?" I questioned. Time, fate, and a man named God was on our side however, and the security lady soon held up a white and silver belt, handing it to Denise and allowing us to run to the terminal.
We had two minutes, along with two girls who have slight, acute cases of asthma. Next we encounter two men who check our boarding passes who make slight passes at Denise and myself, no pun intended. (Actually, pun intended)." You come back to this country soon my pretties", he stated to us in a too familiar British accent. He hesitated a moment, another minute passed. "Holy Canoly", I thought in my pretty little head. We made a run for it.
Can you imagine, that upon arrive to gat 141, there is a group of definitely at least 46 people waiting, the plane had not even began to load. What luck I say. Can you imagine. Upon being seated on plane, I hear man's voice say "Aren't you Becky from Fairfield?" I look over to see a boy named Will waving toward my direction. How funny it is that he was on our flight.
Arriving in Prague was an immense feeling. The Americans (Denise and myself) met with other students, one being Bridget, Denise's roommate. I at once called my mother in the States, who was sleeping like an infant child. I could tell in her voice, and also because it was only early morning hours where she was. I let her know I had made it over safely and then exchanged my American dollars for Czech Crowns. Boy was that a delight slash relief.
My luggage came next and the Americans (Denise, myself, Will and Bridget) proceeded to the CIEE booth, set up near airport exit. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a woman sitting with a girl my age. I did not think much of this. Upon proclaiming my name to woman, she tells me the lady sitting in corner is my host mother. We shake hands.
I drove from the airport with Daniela, my host-mother and Molly, a homestay student also. We dropped off Molly after a pleasant, somewhat quiet car ride through the city of Prague. The stick shift car in which she drove transported the Americans (Molly and myself) to our new home. (Don't worry real-Mama, it will never replace my true home in Staten Island, NY) Your fears will not surface. I will continue to write after hot shower. nashledanou. (GOODBYE)
