I 'd Just got back from Glasgow when there was a knock at the door, and there was Mervena, an Australian lady we'd met whilst in New Zealand. She and Alex had been jet boating together - while I had coffee and watched! She's come over for Crufts and looked us up. We've had a lovely time, despite the horrid weather, and seen a bit, and downed a few glasses!... read more

I was asked to go to stay for a week in Glasgow, while Tom went to London for work. Guess what, I was delighted to go. I was kept very busy all the time, though at least I was allowed to sleep through the night, unlike Sophie. Martha does nothing but a give running commentary on everything, and Jack just watches. If you've seen Sophie's blog, the pictures may look familiar, because she STOLE mine.... read more

We had a most enjoyable day out with Ineke yesterday to celebrate her birthday. We drove to a lovely mere/lake about 45 mins away, where there are lots of ducks, geese and a sculpture trail and a few caches. it was a bit grey but not cold, luckily. We walked a bit, met Kate and John in a pub for lunch, then found some caches. It has to be said, Kate and John walked a lot further than us! Another time we'll do that walk too.... read more

Despite a gloomy forecast, we set off for the seaside, for a walk along the new sea defences and to look for the THIRD time for that cache we cant find! And we found it! After that, we left the poor tired old dog in the car and walked over the railway bridge to Barmouth, where we had a fish and chip lunch and a look round the town. Then caught the train for a ride back over the bridge, just one stop, and there was the car waiting to take us home. We were lucky, no rain, but VERY windy!... read more

Rather a smaller affair than The Whangerai Christmas, but we enjoyed ourselves. Dad and I went down to see Mum, he stayed for lunch but I had to come home to cook for me and Alex - who was working till 2. He popped to see Grandma before bringing Granddad home. Later we went down to dad's for wine, more presents and games. And Ineke joined us when she finished work too. Lovely.... read more

To prove its nearly Christmas, we held our annual Christmas craft evening last week, which mostly involves cutting up a lot of holly and ivy and leaving it on the floor! Though many wreaths and table decorations get made too. its great fun. Then Alex had his show last night, also good fun. It was a combination of lots of fairy tales, and he played a wicked stepmother, a zombie and an ugly sister, with relish! There's a feast of photos, hope you like them.... read more

Dad and I took a few days off and popped down to see Liz this week. We left on Monday, stayed with my friend Hilary - and her husband Mike - who live about an hour from Liz and Jerry, and visited Liz for lunch on Tuesday. She was very pleased to be out of hospital - and for that matter so was I, as its pretty easy to find her house, but I'm not sure about Exeter hospital. Her hair has lost the ginger/coppery hue and is beginning to grow again, though its still a bit thin. She's now waiting to see when a bone marrow donor is available - after a long wait we found that mine wasn't compatible. It was all good. Then we stayed another night with Hil, and drove back slowly ... read more
