Afgelopen zaterdagavond zijn we met een groep meiden (Franse en Duitse) naar de film Alice in Wonderland geweest. In Paisley zit een bioscoop, alleen hebben ze daar geen 3D. We zijn toen naar Braehead geweest (dorp verderop). Dit dorp bestaat vooral uit een supergroot overdekt winkelcentrum (Amerikaanse stijl!) en Xcape. Xcape is geweeeeeeldig! Dit is een plek waar je, je echt de heeeele dag kunt vermaken! Er zijn veel verschillende restaurants, wat winkeltjes… maar wat nog mooier is. Er is een snowpark waar je kan skieen, boarden etc., er is een skypark (waar je je op 15mter hoogte in een speelpark bevind), er is een robocoaster (soort achtbaan), lasergamen, bowlen, minigolf, wand klimmen, free fall fan drop (vrije val van 15mter hoogte), en een vet grote gamehal. • Er hier ontzettend veel tienermoeders zijn? • Een weekabonnement voor de bus maar 10 pond is? • Mieke en ik dezelfde neussprayverslaving hebben? • Het hier sterft van de poundland winkels? • Glasgow maar 10 min met de trein hiervandaan is? Of 20 min met de bus! • Er in Glasgow 4 Primarks zitten? Binnenkort wordt er dus een tour de primark gedaan :P • Wok to go maar 1,60 is? JAMMIE... • De zon hier best vaak schijnt? En het weinig regent? • Er hiervoor een rugby veld is, waar elke week wedstrijden en trainingen worden gegeven, en er een ambulance en ambulancebroeders bij staan: just in case? • Vrouwen maar 1 haarstijl kennen? • Echt Schots onverstaanbaar is, ondanks dat het Engels is? • Ze hier helemaal niet in kilts rondlopen, alleen voor ... read more

Sunday 5th October We had a leisurely breakfast and our daily dance lesson before we arrived at Greenoch (Glasgow) around noon. It was a beautiful sail into Greenoch, up Firth of Clyde. We were accompanied by a flotilla of ferries, small craft, jet skis plus a navy war ship. There was large turnout on the dockside to welcome us, possibly because the QE2 had been built in the area. Throughout the day there was a gold coin donation to view the ship and apparently 20,000 pounds was raised for charity. The weather was fine and we were pleased we had organised another small mini bus with a driver to take us sightseeing. Ian from Doodlebus was there to meet us in his kilt, it was a nice touch and he looked the part. Ian drove off ... read more

Edinburgh was amazing! I spent the day there on the 27th, and took almost twice as many photos as I did in London. The shopping was fabulous, the buildings were amazing, the sights were worth paying the fares to see, and I could have spent days and days there happy as a clam. There's two sides to the city, divided neatly by the train station and rails. The New City, as it is misleadingly called, is a beautiful area, central of which lay some neatly organised streets arranged in a rectangular shape with two gardens/squares near either end. Rather indicative of what the Scots are like, I think. Very neat and organised and but still beautiful.
