My mood and motivation swings an amazing amount each day at the moment. At the start of the day today I was incredibly positive after having read lots of lovely comments on my blog from you all giving me support and physically I felt like I could walk forever. Then it gets hot and I start to feel tired and my head begins to ask “Why the hell are you doing this?”, “Aughton is an awfully long way away still isn’t it?”, “Your feet really hurt now don’t they?” “You’ll never get there, you’ll have to stop and give up won’t you?”… But as always I can manage to keep walking, I do get to where I am meant to be going in the end and Aughton is getting closer with every step! The countryside was ... read more

Friday 21st July Day 14 on Helen’s long walk home (please read this blog in the Big Brother voice). It is 1:10pm and Helen is still walking home. She is sitting in Ye Olde Crown Inn in Stourport on Severn after a mornings walking. A packet of dry roasted peanuts and a Peroni Italian Beer sit in front of her. Even though her feet ache and tingle she is inordinately happy, mostly because she has finished walking for the day but also some of her smile can be attributed to the beer. She is waiting for a taxi to take her back to Worcester and Rob & Sasha’s Guest house that she left early this morning. The day’s walking was uneventful with Helen getting through two whole rounds of 99 green bottles and a good ... read more

Thursday 20th July So I am walking again. I must say my motivation was not at its highest when I woke up this morning and realised I would have to leave the farm and head back out on the road. But since my Mum was going to be dropping me off at least I wouldn’t have to get on a train. Good drive down to Worcester with only the normal traffic jams all the way along the M6 and then a lovely pub lunch with my Mum before putting my backpack on and setting off again. The pile of stones I had left had been knocked over (those pesky kids no doubt) but I still took a photo so you could see. My Mum walked with me for about a mile along the river (she’s great!) ... read more

Due to my Fathers impending 60th Birthday this is where I take a break in my Long Walk Home. Normal service will be resumed in one weeks time. To be honest I think it will be good for my feet to have a break from the washing up liquid for a week before they fall apart totally!... read more

Tuesday 11th July This morning Sasha dropped me off back in Tewkesbury and I finally turned the corner in my trip and started heading north along the Severn. Beautiful scenery by the river and I tried doing a bit of thinking about what to do next with my life… the best thought I had was to become a stonemason. The reason for this was I had walked past some chaps earlier that were chiselling out some stone around a church and it looked like interesting work! But not really anything more constructive came to mind. The day heated up a little bit and I took the first chance I have had on this walk to have a pub lunch… ham, eggs and chips went down very well but I think it may have made me a ... read more

Being such a socialite, I went for a weekend to Malvern with Sarah for her 21st birthday. Luckily Cherry was also there visiting her grandparents so she came too. However I can't really remember much of the night, too much champagne! Anyway, now I am awaiting invitions for more brithday parties, including one for me, when will I get my birthday celebrated?... read more
