Well, last day in the UK (for a while) today. Not yet packed - not that we like to leave things to the last minute or anything… In 24hrs time we’ll be on our way to the airport. Starting to get excited now - ok, who are we trying to kid - we’ve been excited for weeks! Anyway, that’s probably enough for today… more when we finally get to Vancouver. ... read more

Well, after months and months of ummm-ing and ahhh-ing over what to do, where to go and such like, I finally made a decision (can hear the cheering). My flight to India heads off on the 29th of Jan and then I'm gonna be doing the 'Intrepid' - 'North India Unplugged' tour from Delhi to Kolkata. Then I have a few weeks to travel round India before flying out from Mumbai on Friday 13th of March. From there, I head to New Zealand where I shall be making my way to South Island over the course of 5 weeks before flying to Melbourne. From there I head up to Cairns (takin about 7 weeks) to get my flight across to Singapore and then Thailand where and I'll be spending 7 weeks travelling round South East ... read more

Well here we are, the night before, and nearly ready to go. The tickets are printed, the bags are (semi) packed, and the first week is (semi) booked. First stop, Heathrow Airport and then a 9.5 hours flight to Delhi, where we will arrive at 5am and hopefully will meet our pickup who will take us to our homestay, where we'll spend our first two nights. ... read more

Tonight is the night before we go! Sheena and I are packing, re-packing and Sheena has ruthlessly made me chuck out my epilator and bikini trimmer! I now have to slum it with a razor??!!!! ick. I feel like a smeggy traveller already. On the other hand, my pack is lighter. We are very excited and have managed to feast on wine, chilli and chocolate, after having a lamb roast dinner up the pub at lunchtime. A good dose of England before we give it all up for chililes, diarrhorrea (how do you spell that anyway) and mosquitos and lots of sunshine. I wonder what adventures await us, extreme middle aged ladies arf. ...........................I'm packed and ready to leave Swine Town, town of pigs and crap football. Like we're gonna get any sleep tonight! Smelly goes ... read more

Seeing as we've been back in the UK for well over 2 months now, it seemed it was high time that I got off my unemployed behind and went to visit some of my favourite people. Glynn decided not to come with me and leaving him behind in Birmingham was hard, mainly because we've not spent a day apart for about one and a half years. We said our goodbyes by the gates at the grim and grotty Birmingham New Street station as you can no longer go on to the platforms unless you have a ticket. So much for my visions of a waving Glynn running alongside my train as we pulled out. Any how, two hours later, I found myself on the receiving end of a big hug from Linda, my rock chick partner ... read more

Today we had a rather relaxed day to try to recover from our very hectic Monday. We went to Uffington to see a 374-foot-long limestone drawing of a horse carved into a hillside approximately 3700 years ago: The Vale of the White Horse. It was really neat but I couldn't find a decent angle to photograph it. The views of the valley from there were spectacular. Next it was off to Dorchester-on-Thames, a little town with a church that was very pretty. Back at our 'hotel', we had a laundry dilemma - no laundrettes in town or anywhere nearby. (laundrette = laundromat). The nice people here at the hotel finally convinced us we could use their washer and dryer, and we (mostly Allison) spent the rest of the night doing laundry ... very slow dryers. ... read more
