so, 27th sept, michelle started work at kitties irish bar on mitchell street. i went and gave her moral support from the other side of the bar. was wearing my villa shirt and met another villa fan - so anyway, got talking to loads of people. from there on, we have basically made plenty friends and been doing lots of stuff in darwin. we have had a couple of aussie bbq's, lots of nights out on mitchell street, met heaps of people, mainly irish and english! we moved into Les and Vicki's (megans parents) i think around 1st october. they just moved into a lovely new condo, and we had our own rooms and bathroom, pool downstairs, that we had a bit of a party in one night at some crazy o'clock! erm, irish mick did ... read more
24th so today was spent saying goodbyes (mainly for Michelle!) and packing, last minute shopping and then taxi to airport for our flight to Darwin at 9.15pm. Amersham, Lori and Alison came to wave us off (well Mich really!), and then checked in at 7.15. Got in the airport and sat down for a coffee, looked at the menu and Michelle came out with the immortal words 'holy crap - how much?? i dont think im thirsty' at which some well dressed ladies looked at us in sympathy and offered to buy her a coffee haha. flight was only 2 and a half hours (to Oz, haha, imagine that!) - and we were pretty excited, we giggled and did chicken impressions and managed to pertain 2 small jacobs creek each, i think we were a bit ... read more
So - we had went to G's DogDragon restaurant again and chatted to his parents and friends again, then we went to Bingin to meet Granpao and Cynthia, we stayed over at their place for one night right on the beach front, we stayed outside on their balcony under a mozzie net, it was really fab to chill and sleep with the sound of the surf and the stars, a top night. we went out for dinner with another guy as well but i forget his name. 19th - back to kuta, i checked into Cempaka 3 as i had gatecrashed rob's place long enough and now there were some rooms available. Randomly bumped into Chris while in internet cafe, he had flew over with some lads we had met in KL, so went out with ... read more
So - as KL turned into crap, i booked on the next available flight to Bali! which was the morning of 13th, i booked into another dorm for the night and got my flight to bali the next morning. Rob picked me up from the airport and took me straight for a beer and then a massage which he treated me to - what a star! i dropped my things at his place, we checked michelle's place but it was full so im staying at robs which is a really nice place and he has friends staying all round in the same apartments. ian came down to our room and we had a whiskey for the road, then we had dinner and drank capriosas or whatever they're called, and then went and met michelle and her ... read more
So, still on koh phangan with Carol and the legend that is Ricardito. He is so because he puts up with all us girls bossing him about and is a big cuddly bear as well! We took one of the Rubber Tree kittens (we called them Vic and Bob) - there are the 2 smaller tabbies that are a tad sickly. Vic had a bunged up bottom and all his poo had collected into a massive lump at his rear end. I assisted Por to try to get out all the crap, including a couple of enemas and manipulating his colon and stuff, it was a very smelly process and i have to mention that i got squirted with poo all over me. one of my best jobs eh! the flies were all over it! gross ... read more
21 Aug Hopped onto the ferry to koh tao to meet up with Chris at scuba shack. we went for dinner after his diving, and then went to Eazy Bar overlooking the beach. we had a great night, partaking of G&T's and pina coladas and a few J's which can be purchased at the bar. they have a big swing on the beach in front of the bar and we played on that a bit! and watched the best fire performers i have seen yet! as good as oggie even! staff and poi and both together and woweee stuff. i was really enjoying that and we had a pretty late night. so the next day - we woke up too late to check out, i think it was around 4pm!! so we stayed another day and ... read more
since arriving back 'home'!!! have settled back into the island life. such a hard life eh. well, first got here and christel took me round on her bike, we sorted out a house in rubber tree gardens and a bike from 'Adam Big Bike'! nice little 125 which gets me up the hills nicely. and its a pretty blue colour with a white basket which is much more important. so - the new clinic is amazing, really huge! its sprung up in 3 months - cant believe how fast they are building it. there is a dog exercise area, lots of kennels, a big cattery and a separate kitchen so now we can eat without entrails, vomit, severed limbs and maggoty wounds up the other end of the room. bonus. the main clinic is still being ... read more
22nd june. Spent time with Bryan and Mandy, taavi and Wainani again, we all went to see the Petronas towers and had a lovely day. we then went back to oasis and played cards - inevitably this turned into a drinking game. mandy and bryon had sank a bottle of wine previously, and then a bottle of local whiskey. i drank beers and was pleasantly bamboozled but poor old mandy was knackered the next day and we didnt really see her till the evening! bless. taavi is going to bali and he said that i could come along with him, so i decided to join him for a spell in bali! oh the whims of travel. we booked my flight on bryon's laptop, my visa credit card has expired so taavi used his own to book ... read more
16 June - Sarawak - Kuching So - we hired a couple of cars and actually did make it to the orang utan centre, and also went to a village in the back of somewhere/nowhere and had a mooch around their village and little museum with various old artifacts and pots and tools, on the way, shown around by a cute grandmotherly type lady. Very pleasant. Our final night as a group in Kuching - oh wailing and sadness. So we had another night of mayhem and debauchery to mark the occasion, commencing with a great dinner at the local outdoor hawker type eating place, I had steak which was Yummy with a capital Y, then we went to a pub and danced, had drinks, a jolly good time, and then carried on partying like it ... read more
9th June - So me and Tim flew to Kuching, on the way we purchased duty free supplies of vodka and whiskey in case of emergency. We arrived in Kuching, really pretty town, we found this great guest house called Barambih Lodge, really good place, smallish and great staff. Nice bamboo air con lounge with lots of cushions and big TV and DVD player. Small kitchen and nice clean rooms. Cheap too. We met a great irish guy called Dave, he's from Limerick, really good guy. We walked along the river and stopped for a drink at a restaurant/bar on the river. We sat there for a while, then i went back to the guest house for a shower and left Tim with his jug of beer waiting for me to go back. Well, he is ... read more
