Every place that you go to has a distinct feel and smell. England is by far my favourite. You can hear the trains slugging along, and the planes overhead making their way to the busy Heathrow or the quieter Gatwick, and the smell I smell is one......of fabric softer. I am certain that some particular brand has successfully infiltrated the market here, as it is the same smell that gave me the same feeling when I used to live here. Don’t quite know how to describe it, but I love it. Having arrived at London Gatwick and with no casualties or delays (lost, luggage, customs and interviews were obviously not in the cards for me), I have a feeling that this holiday is going to be great. In fact, England has in the past always made ... read more

Not in Lingfield, but close by. Last re-packing about to happen when I can raise the required energy to do so. Off to Heathrow in a couple of hours or so to begin the weariness of international travel. Next entry on here is likely to be when I return to the UK (perhaps the 19th) unless I unexpectedly find some method to update this along the way.... read more

A final dinner in one of the local eateries, a mountain of Tiger prawns in garlic, washed down with some fine regional wines, we ended our week in Lake Annecy. With bikes in bags we made our way to London, six trains and 9 hours later we arrived back at Ashtead.. Our overviews: To have ridden so far and seen so much of the French countryside, and become familiar with the people, their common courtesy and lifestyles, was for myself a massive learning curve, especially as they are our nearest neighbours. I had a great laugh spending quality time with and riding alongside Colin & Paul, and considering they both only started cycling last summer, to have completed this trip, often in hard conditions and at a reasonable pace was a fantastic achievement and has to ... read more

Wow!! Legoland was amazing. We decided to go at the last minute because the weather was quite good. Val and David had warned us how busy it could be during school holidays so we decided to go now rather than later. Great decision. Managed to walk right on to most of the rides. Got wet on some but loved it. Miniland was fantastic. Huge scenes of different European cities represented by lego blocks. In all, 25 million lego blocks are used to create legoland. It is a huge theme park with rides similar to Dreamworld - probably more suited to kids Nathan's age though. As you can imagine, he loved it. He said his favourite part was the roller coaster and the rapid ride - even though we got wet. He was so excited and couldn't ... read more

Have now left the East of London where we had a great 2 weeks with Simon, Nicole and Sam and have now moved to the West of London - near Windsor. We are spending a few days with my cousin Val and her husband David. We picked up the van and left in at a caravan park not too far away. Took about 3 hours to cross London. Spent Wednesday touring around Windsor and Windsor Castle. Absolutely massive castle in the middle of town. Didn't go in but took some outside photos. Took a cruise down the Thames and saw some beautiful homes backing on to the river. Have included photos of some favourites. This is a lovely part of London with lots of gardens, beautiful homes and river scenes. David and Val only live a ... read more

Zambia - Malawi - Tanzania - Kenya. After being home for four weeks I finally find some spare time to blog about Africa. And now I just don't even know where to begin! Perhaps the airport where my brother and I were reunited...What a disaster! My last words to Jourdain before he left "I will meet you at arrivals and we will check into our connecting flight together. Don't board the plane without me." At Heathrow they checked Jourdain onto both flights (heathrow - Jo'burg &  Joburg to Zambia) so he was never directed, or needed, to come out at arrivals. Cue two and a half hours of pure panic. My flight from Perth arrived in jo'burg at 5am and Jourds landed at 6.57am. I literally watched the clock for two hours getting more and more ... read more

We are packed and ready to go, meet at Pauls 8.45 with a 9 o'clock start. A final decision on the route to Wye, our first night stop has yet to be decided, do we go via Purley ( hillier & shorter ) or Dorking to the A25, ( flatter & longer ) we'll decide at the off. Weather is dry but very windy, too windy, gusts up to 40 mph expected today and wind speeds up to 25 mph on mon & tues, not good for cycling, especially with panniers..Well just have to knuckle down and take turns at the front, like they do on the telly. Annecy here we come ! Michael, Paul & Colin Ps: A big thank you for all the kind support we have received and to all those who have ... read more

I'm not gonna write much about where i come from but this is the basic's minus alot lololllolo Almost 2 years ago something happened in my life that gave me the opportunity to discover true freedom! At first I was a bit hesitant and unsure what to do with it... I applied for uni, got in, then didn't turn up... then.... Signing up to to ministry school I spent 6/7 months away from everything and everyone (apart from one person) i knew. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made! I met some amazing people who will be life-long friends (even if mostly the friendship is through a computer screen on skype!) But also I discovered all the barriers I had put up because I thought would never be possible to do were ... read more
