Hiya! So this is our new blog - we, well when I say we, I mean me, as lets face it I doubt Andy will add much - but who knows! This was Julie's idea - although I did toy with the idea of it a while ago - but Julie suggesting it to me the other day made me think perhaps it wasn't such a naff idea after all! So, yes, lets all blame Julie for my waffling! So, as you may know, Andy and myself got hitched 12 days ago! (Yes I am still in the counting phase although I'm sure that'll soon go out the window - like it has for all of you, eg my parents have been married 12,962 days - if my mum had told you that randomly today you'd ... read more

Geo: 51.9063, -1.22521Tuesday morning we left Helen's house after a leisurely morning making use of their WiFi and comfortable house. Once on the road we set the GPS for Nottingham. We had programmed our SatNav to eliminate Motorways so we went the smaller roads. We stopped in Bawtry about 1pm and found a modern Italian restaurant to have lunch. At Ziniz we had a great meal of Seafood Risotto for Fletcher and Pappardella with rabbit ragout for meWe drove on arriving in Nottingham about.3-30pm. We had booked on line a local hotel, The Stage, for only 50 pounds for the night with breakfast. This was a 1 star hotel at best but the room had all we needed albeit up two very steep staircases. After we checked in we walked into the city centre, up and ... read more

Well today is our last day on the Thames and it has been a fantastic trip. Tomorrow we head off to Spain for about 15 days. So the last of the north of England. After leaving the Hadrians wall area we traveled down to Lancaster dropping into Lakes Windermere and Grasmere to have a look and drive around, which wetted my appetite to see more. Diane and Viv went in search of Beatrix Potter and her picture story animals. They found the World of Beatrix Potter and spent some time discovering the world that she lived in. She certainly made an impact on the world. They loved their visit. The next day Di and I returned to Kendal see a bit more and to visit a museum where I had found out there was an area ... read more

Geo: 52.2025, 0.131237 An English Summer 12 July - 31st August 2015 The last Blog saw us planning our visit to Stratford. The performance of Othello was very enjoyable and, even better, the new Royal Shakespeare Theatre provides the intimacy that we had come to love in the temporary theatre. No one is far from the stage so it is easy to become involved in the action. At school those studying Literature came to Stratford for a week. I loved this experience but really struggled at the theatre. As much as I enjoyed the plays we were always so far from the stage, up in the 'Gods', that it must have strained by eyes. Without fail I fell asleep within minutes until eventually I realised, thankfully, that if I chewed constantly I could overcome the need ... read more

Hi All, As you can see I am now down in England just outside Oxford. Sitting on a boat on the Thames starting a boat trip around the area with Viv and Charlie. Everything looking good apart from the weather being a little cold and wet. Anyway, we finished up in Scotland after a great trip that finished off with a great show at the Edinburgh Tattoo. On the way down from Nairn we stayed for 2 nights at the Hotel Athol, a magnificent old manor house in Pitlochry. As soon as we saw it Di and I knew that we had stayed there in '98 with Chris. It comes complete with a 9 hole pitch and putt that gave us a lot of fun when the 6 of us had a make shift game. Lots ... read more

it's been a long time since I flew without a stop over and I did have many concerns but overall I would do it again. I was underwhelmed by MAS, though we did get here! (Too soon?). Air Asia is so much better in every way so I will keep recomending them. First leg of the journey was ok, in a 2 3 2 configuration on our own So Kasey could stretch out, I should explain that Cooper and Greg flew QANTAS and Kasey and I flew Malaysian Airlines, all about the cost really. You can follow Coopers trip via SCG youth IX england tour on Facebook. the international airport in KL was very basic, nicer than the low cost terminal but missing a newsagent or book shop so Kasey and I just tried to keep ... read more

what the what, a long day begins with birds, jetlag and coffeelag (which I call a 3am headache). so not long after we wake at 3, I notice the sky lightening! The Sun is rising, it isn't up until 5 but that is full light. We park and ride in to the city by about 8am, on a double decker bus, which Kasey loved. We orientated our selves to the city, starting at the castle, then the Blackwells (yippee, an amazing book shop), grabbed a chocolate croissant for Kasey, ( I miss these supermarkets so much, good old tescos, , sainsburys and M&S- so cheap even at a 2 for one exchange rate, we are juat so ripped off in Aus. Anyway we then headed to our free tours of Oxford for two hours, it was ... read more
